Objective: To identify the predictor factors of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction following patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) surgical ligation.
Background: PDA is viewed as a noticeable amongst the most widely recognized congenital heart defects in children and its closure is responsible for many hemodynamic changes that require intervention and care.
Methods: A retrospective study included fifty children with isolated PDA treated by surgical ligation from June 2015 to June 2018.
Aim: Anemia of chronic disease is considered the most common extra-articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The present study aimed to investigate the effect of etanercept (anti-tumor necrosis factor) on anemia and hepcidin gene expression in a rat model of RA.
Method: Rheumatoid arthritis was induced in rats by Freund Complete Adjuvant (FCA; 1 mg/0.
Background: In the current context of research on HIV reservoirs, offering new insights into the persistence of HIV DNA in infected cells, which prevents viral eradication, may aid in identifying cure strategies. This study aimed to describe the establishment of stable integrated forms among total HIV DNA during primary infection (PHI) and their dynamics during the natural history of infection.
Methods: Total and integrated HIV DNA were quantified in blood from 74 PHI patients and 97 recent seroconverters (<12 months following infection, "progression cohort").
Few advances have been made in overall survival for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in more than 40 years. Here, we report the case of a 38-year-old man who presented with chronic headache, nausea, and vomiting accompanied by left partial motor seizures and upper left limb weakness. Enhanced brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a solid cystic lesion in the right partial space suggesting GBM.

We aimed to evaluate whether (i) previous HBV-testing, (ii) physicians decision to screen, and (iii) CDC's recommendations identified infected individuals and which risk-factor groups needing testing.
Methods: During a mass, multi-center HBV-screening study from September 2010-August 2011, 3929 participants were screened for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), anti-HBs and anti-Hepatitis B core antibodies (anti-HBcAb).
Introduction: A software of computerized physician order entry [CPOE] was developed by a data-processing company in collaboration with the Mont-Godinne University Hospital By 2006, parallel to the evolution of the software, the progressive implementation of CPOE was carried out, and currently covers 16 wards, the emergency room, the recovery rooms and the center of medical care [day hospital] as well as the day surgical center
Objectives: Complete computerization of the drug supply chain, including the regulation by the physician, the pharmaceutical validation, the delivery and the follow-up of stocks by pharmacy, the validation of the administration by the nurse and the tariffing of the drugs.
Method And Results: In 2006, a working group was created in order to validate specifications allowing the development of a software of CPOE, Linked to the computerized medical record. A data-processing company was selected in order to develop this software.
Background & Aims: The systematic use of rapid tests performed at points-of-care may facilitate hepatitis B virus (HBV) screening and substantially increase HBV infection awareness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of such tests for HBsAg and anti-HBsAb detection among individuals visiting a variety of healthcare centers located in a low HBV-prevalent area.
Methods: Three rapid tests for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) detection (VIKIA, Determine and Quick Profile) and one test for anti-hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBsAb) detection (Quick Profile) were evaluated in comparison to ELISA serology.
