This study investigated whether the difference between endometrial thickness in the frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle and the preceding fresh stimulated cycle predicts clinical pregnancy in women with thin endometrium. A retrospective analysis of 335 cycles in 227 women (age < 43) with endometrium < 8 mm in the FET cycle was conducted. Endometrial thickness was assessed using the ratio (ET) and absolute difference (ET) between the maximal endometrial thickness measured during the stimulated IVF cycle and that measured in the FET cycle.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examined the outcomes of 185 pregnant women who had appendectomies, comparing them to 555 who did not undergo surgery, focusing on clinical, obstetrical, and neonatal results from 2005 to 2022.
  • The majority of the appendectomies were laparoscopic, with 76.2% of cases showing an inflamed appendix; however, preterm delivery was significantly higher in the appendectomy group (11.9%) compared to the control group (5.4%).
  • The analysis indicated that having an appendectomy, especially if it was a negative appendectomy, was a significant risk factor for preterm birth, highlighting the need for careful

Introduction: It has been reported that approximately 80-90% of apical prolapse repair is through reconstructive or obliterative vaginal surgery. Although several procedures have been described, to date there is a lack of consensus on the best surgical procedure. The aim of this study was to perform a thorough review of the current literature on the efficacy and safety of the iliococcygeus fixation technique for the treatment of vaginal vault prolapse.

Vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) are the most prevalent type of osteoporotic fractures, often causing significant pain, morbidity, and mortality. Vertebral augmentation procedures like balloon kyphoplasty (BK) are effective in treating VCFs. These procedures are typically performed using a single fluoroscopy machine (SF) for anteroposterior (AP) and lateral views.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the risk of obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) in women having their first vaginal birth after a cesarean (secundiparous) with first-time vaginal delivery (primiparous) women.
  • It analyzed data from 85,428 women over a decade, finding similar rates of OASI in both groups (0.94% for secundiparous vs. 0.81% for primiparous), with no significant statistical association between undergoing a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) and OASI.
  • The results indicated that women who had a VBAC do not face a higher risk of OASI compared to those experiencing their first vaginal

Pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) represent the first-line approach to pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFDs). Recently, studies have shown a synergy between the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, hypothesizing that the anatomical and functional integrity of the abdominal wall plays a role in the prevention of pelvic floor disorders. Some studies have shown a significant correlation between diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the link between grand multiparity (having five or more previous deliveries) and the risk of postpartum complications, specifically blood transfusions following childbirth.
  • A total of 87,343 deliveries were analyzed; grand multiparous women accounted for only 1.7% of the sample, with only 1.8% of all women needing red blood cell transfusions.
  • The results suggest that, after adjusting for various risk factors, grand multiparity is actually associated with a lower risk of needing blood transfusions postpartum, indicating it may be a protective factor rather than a risk factor.

Objective: To investigate the prognostic significance of near-complete metabolic response on initial follow-up PET/CT after primary chemoradiation treatment of cervical cancer.

Methods: Survival data were retrospectively compared between patients who had complete metabolic response on first follow-up PET/CT, 3 months after chemoradiation (group 1) with those who had near-complete metabolic response on first PET/CT and later showed complete metabolic response at subsequent PET/CT, 6 months or more after treatment (group 2).

Results: Of the 108 patients included in the final analysis, 74 (68.

Cognitive control, which has been localized to the right inferior frontal gyrus (rIFG) based on functional imaging and brain lesion studies, is impaired in patients with ADHD. The present study aims to investigate whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over the rIFG might improve cognitive control in ADHD subjects. We hypothesized poorer performance in a cognitive control task, but not in a control language task, in the ADHD subjects.

Although it is known that hysterectomy (HY) alone cannot resolve apical prolapse, vaginal hysterectomy (VH) remains the most common surgical procedure for this issue. In recent years, various procedures for uterine conservation have been proposed to avoid the surgical risks of HY. Furthermore, most women with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (POP) prefer uterine conservation in the absence of considerable benefit in uterine removal.

Introduction: Fear is associated with perceptual biases. People who are afraid of spiders perceive spiders as larger than people without this fear. It is yet unclear, however, whether this effect can be influenced by using implicit (non-deliberate) emotion regulation (ER) processes and explicit (deliberate) ER strategies, such as reappraisal and suppression.
