Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF): biometrical results and own experiences.

Lumbar fusion is a mainstay in the treatment of low back pain resulting from degenerative disc disease. Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) has become a reasonable treatment technique to achieve indirect foraminal decompression with high fusion rates. The aim of the study was to analyse the biometrical parameters of the lumbar spine and the clinical outcome.

Conservative management strategies and stress level in children and adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis.

Objectives: The objective of the study was to evaluate the stress level in children and adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (IS) treated conservatively using the Dobosiewicz Method (DoboMed) approach in correlation with the clinical parameters and brace therapy.

Methods: The study group (SG) comprised 63 patients (54 girls), in mean age 14.7 years.

Extended magnetic resonance imaging studies on the effect of classically activated microglia transplantation on white matter regeneration following spinal cord focal injury in adult rats.

Spinal cord injuries are still a serious problem for regenerative medicine. Previous research has demonstrated that activated microglia accumulate in spinal lesions, influencing the injured tissues in various ways. Therefore, transplantation of activated microglia may have a beneficial role in the regeneration of the nervous system.

Sciatic nerve regeneration in rats subjected to ketogenic diet.

Objectives: Ketogenic diet (KD) is a high-fat-content diet with insufficiency of carbohydrates that induces ketogenesis. Besides its anticonvulsant properties, many studies have shown its neuroprotective effect in central nervous system, but its influence on peripheral nervous system has not been studied yet. We examined the influence of KD on regeneration of peripheral nerves in adult rats.
