Organic Chemistry is widely recognized as a challenging subject, with the design of syntheses and retrosyntheses identified as particularly difficult tasks. Inspired by the success of artificial neural networks in machine learning, we propose a framework that leverages similar principles to enhance the teaching and learning of organic synthesis. In this paper, we introduce a novel teaching tool, the "Synthetic Map", that attempts to visually recreate an expert's mental map and conceptual understanding of organic synthesis built over years of experience.

The MOF structure is formed by polymeric 1D chains of Ln ions with three different coordination environments (Ln1, Ln2, Ln3) running along the -axis, linked by carborane-based linkers thus to provide a 3D structure. Static magnetic measurements reveal that these MOFs behave at low temperature as a system of * = 1/2 Ising spins, weakly interacting ferromagnetically along the 1D polymeric chain (/ = +0.

Hair whorls are described as changes in the hair pattern and may take various forms, such as circular and linear whorls. We first carried out a frequency analysis of hair whorls (circular and linear).

A total of 1089 horses participating in eventing (8866 records) were used. A GLM revealed that the EV%AG was significant in dressage, show jumping and cross-country.

The crystalline material is formed by neutral nanosheets held together by van der Waals interactions, which can be easily exfoliated by sonication. Photoluminescent emission in the visible range was observed for all of the synthesized 2D MOF compounds excitation of the ligand, showing benzoates are efficient antenna ligands.

In particular, the pleiotropic effect that coat color genes have on behavior determines the way the horse perceives and reacts to its environment. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of coat color on basal reactivity assessed with infrared thermography as eye temperature at rest (ETR), determine their relation with the results obtained by these horses in Show Jumping competitions and to estimate the genetic parameters for this variable to test its suitability for genetic selection.

Its breeding program uses linear morpho-functional traits as selection criteria. Our aim was to estimate the genetic parameters of linear morpho-functional traits, and reveal relationship of quality of black coat color (QB) and percentage of white marks (WM) with the other morphological and functional linear traits in this breed.

In particular, the Caballo de Deporte Español (CDE) is bred for different disciplines with a special focus on Show Jumping. The main aim of this study was to determine the effects of 15 years of selection and to find out whether it has been effective and adequate regarding the CDE main breeding objectives.

Herein, we unveil the origin of such a behavior.

The objective of this study was to update the existing set of quality indicators [QIs] for ICCUs, based on a nationwide quality certification programme carried out in Spain, from a multi-stakeholder perspective and using multicriteria decision analysis [MCDA] methodology.
Methods: An MCDA comprising three different phases was conducted.
We present the magnetic properties of the metal-organic framework {[CoCxAPy]·2.15 HO} (Cx = bis(carboxypropyl)tetramethyldisiloxane; APy = 4,4`-azopyridine) () that builds up from the stacking of 2D coordination polymers. The 2D-coordination polymer in the plane is formed by the adjacent bonding of [CoCxAPy] 1D two-leg ladders with Co dimer rungs, running parallel to the -axis.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTotal control over the electronic spin relaxation in molecular nanomagnets is the ultimate goal in the design of new molecules with evermore realizable applications in spin-based devices. For single-ion lanthanide systems, with strong spin-orbit coupling, the potential applications are linked to the energetic structure of the crystal field levels and quantum tunneling within the ground state. Structural engineering of the timescale of these tunneling events via appropriate design of crystal fields represents a fundamental challenge for the synthetic chemist, since tunnel splittings are expected to be suppressed by crystal field environments with sufficiently high-order symmetry.
