Background/objectives: The present study evaluates predictive implications of the pretherapeutic Fibrinogen-Albumin-Ratio Index (FARI) in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) patients undergoing primary cytoreductive surgery.
Methods: This retrospective study included 161 patients with HGSOC International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage ≥ IIb, who underwent primary cytoreductive surgery followed by platinum-based chemotherapy. Associations between the FARI and complete tumor resection status were described by receiver operating characteristics, and binary logistic regression models were fitted.
Low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (LGSOC) is a rare subtype of epithelial ovarian cancer, characterized by a unique molecular background and specific clinical behavior. A growing body of molecular data underscores LGSOC as a distinct disease entity; however, clinical evidence on the optimal treatment regimens for LGSOC remains limited due to the low incidence of the disease. Consequently, treatment recommendations for LGSOC are still often derived from findings on the more common high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and typically focus on radical cytoreductive surgery and platinum-based chemotherapy.

This study reports on the 10-year surgical, oncological, and obstetrical experience of patients treated by radical abdominal trachelectomy at an Austrian tertiary care center. A retrospective chart analysis and telephone survey of all patients with FIGO stage IA2-IB2 (2018) cervical cancer treated by radical abdominal trachelectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy between 2013 and 2022 were performed.

Methods: Prospectively collected molecular profiling data of all consecutive patients with endometrial cancer who underwent primary surgery at our department between August 2017 and June 2022 and for whom both molecular profiling and clinical follow-up data were available were retrospectively evaluated. Tumor specimens were evaluated by combined mismatch repair protein immunohistochemistry and targeted next-generation hotspot sequencing.
(1) Objective: Late-line chemotherapy rechallenge in recurrent cervical cancer is associated with modest therapy response but significant side effects. As mTOR pathways modulate cellular growth via estrogen receptor (ER) signaling and combined mTOR and ER inhibition previously demonstrated survival benefits in breast cancer, this exploratory study evaluates mTOR pathway and ER expression interactions in a preclinical cervical cancer model. (2) Methods: Immunostaining of a 126-tumor core tissue microarray was performed to assess phosphorylated-mTOR and ER expression.

Intravenous leiomyomatosis is a rare, histologically benign, uterine neoplasm, which is characterized by non-invasive intravascular proliferation of smooth muscle cells. Intravenous leiomyomatosis arises from the myometrium and, in its most extensive form, can reach the heart via the pelvic veins and the inferior vena cava, causing hemodynamic complications.

As targeted approaches may help to overcome these limitations, the present study evaluates biomarkers indicative of potential immune-checkpoint inhibitor therapy response.
Methods: All patients who underwent primary cytoreductive surgery from January 2001 to December 2020 and for whom formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue samples were available were included (n=35; 12 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage ≥IIb).
The present study aims to evaluate the pretherapeutic Fibrinogen-Albumin-Ratio Index (FARI), as currently reliable biomarkers to predict therapy response and prognosis of patients with advanced vulvar cancer are missing. Data of 124 consecutive patients, who underwent primary resection for vulvar cancer ≥ pT1b, were retrospectively analyzed. Associations between the FARI and disease recurrence were assessed fitting receiver operating characteristics (ROC) and binary logistic regression models; univariate and multivariable Cox regression models for disease-specific survival (DSS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were performed.

The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of the CONUT score for overall survival and perioperative complication rates in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. In this retrospective study we assessed the data of 337 consecutive patients with ovarian cancer.

Therefore, we aimed to assess the predictive and prognostic value of pretherapeutic body mass index (BMI) for recurrent gynecologic cancer patients as previously validated for other solid tumors. We evaluated patients with programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) positive and, in endometrial cancer, also mismatch repair deficient (MMR) gynecologic malignancies, who received the PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab as monotherapy (200 mg fixed-dose q3 w) from 2017 to 2020 (n = 48).

Earlier epidemiologic observations led to the attribution of PCS to the premenopausal state, and a remission of symptoms after menopause is frequently described a hallmark of the pathology. This concept has currently been challenged by radiological studies reporting a notable prevalence of ovarian venous congestion in adult female patients of advanced age.

In total, 301 consecutive patients with advanced HGSOC (exploratory cohort: = 155, treated at the Medical University of Vienna; external validation cohort: = 146, from the Ovarian Cancer Therapy-Innovative Models Prolong Survival (OCTIPS) consortium) were enrolled. Tumor growth estimates were obtained using a validated two-phase equation model involving serial CA-125 levels, and their predictive value with respect to treatment response to the next chemotherapy and the prognostic value with respect to disease-specific survival and overall survival were assessed.

The associated diagnostic and therapeutic implications present a clinical challenge for gynecologic oncology treatment strategies. Recent studies have provided solid evidence for an independent, linear, positive correlation between a pathologically increased body mass index and the probability of developing endometrial or postmenopausal breast cancer.

Methods: Data of 130 consecutive patients who underwent primary surgical resection for vulvar cancer at the Medical University of Vienna between 1999 and 2018 was retrospectively analyzed. The SII was defined as platelets × neutrophils/lymphocytes as previously described.
Objective: Hypoalbuminemia, a known marker for malnutrition, has been associated with an increased risk for perioperative morbidity and poor prognosis in patients with solid tumors. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic and predictive value of pre-treatment serum albumin levels for survival and postoperative complications in patients with vulvar cancer undergoing surgery.
Methods: Within in this retrospective study, we assessed data of 103 consecutive patients with vulvar cancer undergoing primary surgery into this study.
High grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) is the most frequent type of ovarian cancer. Most patients have primary response to platinum-based chemotherapy but frequently relapse, which leads to patient death. A lack of well documented and characterized patient-derived HGSOC cell lines is so far a major barrier to define tumor specific therapeutic targets and to study the molecular mechanisms underlying disease progression.
