Stapes surgery is the gold standard for managing otosclerosis. It has become increasingly appreciated to perform endoscopic ear surgery worldwide as the field of endoscopy expands. In basic terms, a stapes surgery intends to restore ossicular mobility and therefore improve sound energy transduction into the inner ear, thereby improving communication and sound amplification and bringing hearing levels back to acceptable levels.

In this co-designed and co-led study, a cancer screening questionnaire developed for Métis people to evaluate their cancer screening histories and to explore barriers and facilitators to cancer screening was used. Adult Métis Albertans were invited to participate in the anonymous survey through a multi-modal strategy used for community consultations.

Autistic individuals experience high rates of behavioral crises that present to healthcare providers for medication management. Co-occurring psychiatric conditions and psychotropic medication use are common among this patient population. Particularly for those with limited expressive language, evaluating for the presence of psychiatric and medical conditions that could contribute to distress is a critical component of crisis management.

In the spirit of mutual respect, this co-led, collaborative project was carried out between the Métis Nation of Alberta and Screening Programs from Alberta Health Services (AHS). This scoping review assessed the cancer screening literature for available questionnaires and then identified themes and suitable questions for a Métis-specific cancer screening questionnaire.

We sought to evaluate the prevalence and outcomes of pre-existing and gestational diabetes among Métis pregnancies compared with other pregnancies in Alberta, Canada.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using administrative health data from 2006 to 2016 and the Métis Nation of Alberta Identification Registry to compare the prevalence of pre-existing and gestational diabetes among all singleton Métis births with non-Métis births.
Background: Environmental cleaning is important in the interruption of pathogen transmission. Although prevention initiatives have targeted environmental cleaning, practice variations exist and compliance is low. Evaluation of human factors influencing variations in cleaning practices can be valuable in developing interventions to standardized practices.

Objective: Unstable cavities are defined as cavities with cerumen accumulation that need frequent cavity cleaning in the out-patient clinic, cavities that are intolerant to water due to risk of infection or that are subject to frequent infection and otorrhoea. The objective of this study is to address the problem of troublesome mastoid cavities, with the performance of secondary mastoid obliteration and canal wall reconstruction, using a novel posterior auricular artery (PAA) fascia-periosteum flap.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study was designed, only secondary obliterations were included.
Background: To compare the functional and anatomical results of two different types of grafts in type 1 tympanoplasty (TPL I). Methods: A retrospective comparative bicentric study was conducted on patients treated with TPL I using temporal fascia or tragal cartilage. We evaluated the functional and anatomical results with intergroup and intragroup analyses.

Methods: All the patients undergoing CWD for chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma at our ENT University Department between January 2002 and December 2022 were initially assessed. We performed clinical and diagnostic evaluation at baseline, 6 months, and then every year until an average follow-up of 10 years was obtained.

A common symptom of mental illness is change in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, the phase of sleep associated with dreaming and nightmares. The COVID-19 pandemic offers a unique opportunity to evaluate the effects of systemic stress on nightmares.

Evidence-based recommendations for clinical practice are intended to help health care providers and patients make decisions, minimize inappropriate practice variation, promote effective resource use, improve clinical outcomes, and direct future research. SCAI has been engaged in the creation and dissemination of clinical guidance documents since the 1990s. These documents are a cornerstone of the Society's education, advocacy, and quality improvement initiatives.

Communities' self-determined and integrated responses with embedded cultural supports - in collaboration with governments, organizations and providers - were key to minimizing morbidity and mortality. Maintaining and building these relationships in the continued pandemic response, broadening approaches to healthcare delivery and continuing to include culture will support attainment of the Indigenous primary healthcare model while addressing logistical challenges in transforming and sustaining healthcare systems in the background of ongoing inequities in the social determinants of health.

Methods: A convergent mixed methods approach using quantitative observations (ie, direct observation of environmental service staff performing environmental cleaning using a standardized observation form) and qualitative interviews (ie, semistructured interviews of key healthcare workers) across 3 Veterans Affairs acute and long-term care facilities.
Results: Between December 2018 and May 2019 a total of sixty-two room observations (N = 3602 surfaces) were conducted.
An effective clinical research effort in nursing homes to address prevention and treatment of COVID-19 faced overwhelming challenges. Under the Health Care Systems Research Network-Older Americans Independence Centers AGING Initiative, a multidisciplinary Stakeholder Advisory Panel was convened to develop recommendations to improve the capability of the clinical research enterprise in US nursing homes. The Panel considered the nursing home as a setting for clinical trials, reviewed the current state of clinical trials in nursing homes, and ultimately developed recommendations for the establishment of a nursing home clinical trials research network that would be centrally supported and administered.

CD34+ cell therapy increases microvasculature in preclinical models and improves symptoms, exercise tolerance, and mortality in refractory angina patients with obstructive coronary artery disease. The objective of this research was to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of intracoronary CD34+ cell therapy in patients with coronary microvascular dysfunction.
