Objectives: The aim of this study was to histomorphometrically evaluate the influence of interimplant distances (ID) and implant placement depth on bone remodeling around contiguous Morse cone connection implants with 'platform-shifting' in a dog model.
Material And Methods: Bilateral mandibular premolars of six dogs were extracted, and after 12 weeks, each dog received 8 implants, four placed 1.5 mm subcrestally (SCL) on one side of the mandible and four placed equicrestally (ECL) on the other side, alternating the ID of 2 and 3 mm.
Collapsing glomerulopathy (CG) is a severe form of nephrotic syndrome and has been mostly associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Treatment response is poor, and the disease frequently leads to end-stage renal disease. More recently, CG has been described in association with other conditions, such as drug exposure and other infections, but renal prognosis remains unfavorable.

Accelerated Idioventricular Rhythm (AIVR) is a ventricular rhythm consisting of three or more consecutive monomorphic beats, with gradual onset and gradual termination. It can rarely manifest in patients with completely normal hearts or with structural heart disease. It is usually seen during acute myocardial infarction reperfusion.

The players' on-court trajectory, total and accumulated distances covered, distances covered during working and stopped game clock, and average velocity were calculated. The players covered 2294.

Eighteen runners performed an incremental treadmill test to estimate individual maximal fat oxidation rate (Fatmax) based on gases measures and a 10,000-m run on a track. The subjects were then divided into a low and moderate performance group using two different criteria: 10,000-m time and VO2max values.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, in 2003, on a representative sample of 2,298 male and female subjects, including 803 adolescents (12 to 19 years), 713 adults (20 to 59 years) and 782 elderly people (60 years or over). Food intake was measured using 24-hour recall.
Objective: Characterize and compare acute psychiatric admissions to the psychiatric wards of a general hospital (22 beds), a psychiatric hospital (80) and of an emergency psychiatry unit (6).
Method: Survey of the ratios and shares of the demographic, diagnostic and hospitalization variables involved in all acute admissions registered in a catchment area in Brazil between 1998 and 2004.
Results: From the 11,208 admissions, 47.
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of the performance level of athletes on pacing strategy during a simulated 10-km running race, and the relationship between physiological variables and pacing strategy. Twenty-four male runners performed an incremental exercise test on a treadmill, three 6-min bouts of running at 9, 12 and 15 km h(-1), and a self-paced, 10-km running performance trial; at least 48 h separated each test. Based on 10-km running performance, subjects were divided into terziles, with the lower terzile designated the low-performing (LP) and the upper terzile designated the high-performing (HP) group.

The three-dimensional coordinates of markers on the ribs and vertebrae were used to calculate the orientation of the ribs as a function of time. However, data concerning the role of NO in stomatal closure that occurs in turgid vs. dehydrated plants is limited.

In this paper, we propose a method to estimate the parameters of a double hinge model of the trapeziometacarpal joint (TMC) by MRI-based motion analysis. The model includes two non-orthogonal and non-intersecting rotation axes accounting for flexion-extension (F-E) and adduction-abduction (A-A). We evaluated the quality of the estimated model parameters in the prediction of the relative motion of the first metacarpal bone with respect to the trapezium.

The present study investigated the influence of gender on clinical, laboratory, autoantibodies and histopathological classes of lupus nephritis (LN). As much as 81 patients diagnosed with SLE (ACR criteria) and active nephritis, who underwent renal biopsy between 1999 and 2004, and who had frozen serum samples and clinical data available from the time of biopsy, were selected for this study.

The aim of this study was to investigate if a biofunctionalization of implant surface influences the bone apposition in a dog model and to compare it with other surfaces, such as a microstructured created by the grit-blasting/acid-etching process. Eight young adult male mongrel dogs had the bilateral mandibular premolars extracted and each one received 6 implants after 12 weeks, totaling 48 implants in the experiment.

The purpose of this trial was to explore the efficacy of AZA in maintaining steroid-free remission in SD-UC patients and the factors associated with sustained response.
Methods: In this observational cohort study, 42 subjects with SD-UC were recruited for AZA therapy during a 3-year period.
Unlabelled: Currently, aging of the population is a widespread global phenomenon. Therefore, the assessment of prognosis in elderly patients is needed. This study aims to identify risk factors in a population of elderly patients admitted in the intensive care unit
Methods: A prospective study in the intensive care unit of a general tertiary hospital was carried out for five months.
The purpose of this study was to compare the two main types of marker sets for human body representation based on rigid clusters of markers and skin surface markers for measuring kinematics during walking and running. Velocity, body segment, and joint angle were considered in the comparison of both protocols. Six male athletes were studied during treadmill gait at 1.

The child developed clinical features suggestive of SS, including diaphoresis, tachycardia, hypertension, agitation, insomnia, incoordination, hypertonia (lower limbs >> upper limbs), and hallucinations.
Background: Physical and bioceramic incorporation surface treatments at the nanometer scale showed higher means of bone-to-implant contact (BIC) and torque values compared with surface topography at the micrometer scale; however, the literature concerning the effect of nanometer scale parameters is sparse.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of two different implant surfaces on the percentage bone-to-implant contact (BIC%) and bone osteocyte density in the human posterior maxilla after 2 months of unloaded healing.
Materials And Methods: The implants utilized presented dual acid-etched (DAE) surface and a bioceramic molecular impregnated treatment (Ossean®, Intra-Lock International, Boca Raton, FL, USA) serving as control and test, respectively.

Transgenic mice with Cdx2 expression in the stomach develop IM and Cdx2(+/-) mice develop hamartomatous polyps in the colon presenting gastric differentiation. We previously observed regulation of CDX2 by the BMP/SMAD pathway in the gastric context.
