VACCIMEL is a therapeutic cancer vaccine composed of four irradiated allogeneic human melanoma cell lines rationally selected to cover a wide range of melanoma tumor-associated antigens (TAA). We previously demonstrated that vaccination in the adjuvant setting prolonged the distant-metastasis-free survival of cutaneous melanoma patients and that T cells reactive to TAA and the patient's private neoantigens increased during treatment. However, immune responses directed to vaccine antigens that may arise from VACCIMEL's somatic mutations and human polymorphisms remain unexplored.

Although it has been withdrawn from the market, the binary system is rich in polymorphism and understanding the phase behaviour of the binary system involving the E- and Z-isomers is challenging. Physical mixtures do not immediately give rise to equilibrium phase behaviour, whereas recrystallization often leads to metastable phases and the appearance of stable phases can take years.

However, the value of LSM as a predictor of disease progression in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) remains to be determined. This study aimed to evaluate the role of LSM as a predictor of disease progression and decompensation of cirrhosis in patients with AIH.

Methods: Patients who underwent a cervical lymph node dissection between 1998 and 2022 were included in this study. Demographics, initial thyroid surgery, subsequent lymph node dissections, follow up information, and response to therapy were acquired.
Background: The impact of rapid urbanization taking place across the world is posing variegated challenges. Especially in terms of communicable disease, the risk is more concentrated in urban poor areas where basic amenities are inadequate. This systematic review synthesizes evidence on the effective community-based interventions (CBIs) aimed at preventing and controlling infectious diseases among the urban poor in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Significant research efforts have led to biosensing experiments experiencing a remarkable growth with the development and application of recombinant luminescent proteins (RLPs) being at the core of this boost. Integrating RLPs into biosensors has resulted in highly versatile detection platforms.

This study aimed to investigate the development of these muscles in order to clarify their terminal insertions and their relationship with the metacarpophalangeal joints.
Methods: Serial sections of 25 human specimens (9 embryos and 16 fetuses) between the 7th and 14th weeks of development, sourced from the Collection of the Department of Anatomy and Embryology at UCM Faculty of Medicine, were analyzed bilaterally using a conventional optical microscope.
Background: Thyroid cancer has an overall favorable prognosis, but no pre-operative biochemical marker has been shown to distinguish between low and high-risk disease or predict response to therapy.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 162 patients that underwent thyroid surgery for thyroid cancer between 2006 and 2022 in whom a pre-operative thyroglobulin level (Tg) was measured. We subdivided patients into low, intermediate and high-risk thyroid cancer and based on their response to therapy per ATA guidelines.
This study compared short-term effectiveness of proton pump inhibitors (PPI), swallowed topical corticosteroids (STC), and dietary therapies in reversing clinical and histological features in pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitits (EoE). Determinants for treatment choice and PPI therapy effectiveness were also assessed. A cross-sectional study analysis of patients under 18 years old recruited onto the multicenter EoE CONNECT registry was performed.

We have previously demonstrated in cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients that adjuvant treatment with VACCIMEL, a mixture of four irradiated CM cell lines co-adjuvanted with BCG and GM-CSF, increases the cellular immune response to melanocyte differentiation antigens, cancer-testis antigens and neoantigens, with respect to basal levels. On the other hand, it is also known that treatment with anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), acting on pre-existing tumor-reactive lymphocytes, induces clinical responses in CM patients, albeit in a fraction of treated patients.

Barocaloric effects (BCE) driven by hydrostatic pressure (p) are especially encouraging in terms of large adiabatic temperature changes (|ΔT| ≈ 10 K) and isothermal entropy changes (|ΔS| ≈ 100 J K kg). However, BCE typically require large pressure shifts due to irreversibility issues, and sizeable |ΔT| and |ΔS| seldom are realized in a same material.

The static headspace gas chromatography (HS-GC) coupled with electron capture detection (ECD) is an effective approach to monitor halogenated and nitroaromatic genotoxins. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) possess tunable physico-chemical properties and low vapor pressure for HS-GC methods.

This article proposes a vision of the advances in knowledge required at different scales to contribute to this transformation. After defining health and welfare of animals, the article emphasises the need to consider health in a broader perspective, to deepen the question of positive emotional experiences regarding welfare, and raises the question of how to assess these two elements on farms.

Gender dimensions could influence TB care, and indeed, more men than women are diagnosed with TB each year. The study was done to identify social stratifiers that intersect with gender to influence TB care.

However, quasi-1D semiconductors beyond Sb(S,Se), such as SbSeX chalcohalides, have been scarcely investigated for energy generation applications, and rarely synthesised by physical vapor deposition methodologies, despite holding the promise of widening the bandgap range (opening the door to tandem or semi-transparent devices), and showing enticing new properties such as ferroelectric behaviour and defect-tolerant nature. In this work, SbSeI and SbSeBr micro-columnar solar cells have been obtained for the first time by an innovative methodology based on the selective halogenation of SbSe thin films at pressure above 1 atm.

The system combines, for the first time, the use of few-layer bismuthene (FLB) as a platform for the oriented immobilization of tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) specifically designed and synthetized to detect a specific SARS-CoV-2 gene sequence. In one of its vertices, these TDNs contain a DNA capture probe of the open reading frame 1 ab (ORF1ab) of the virus, available for the biorecognition of the target DNA/RNA.

Therefore, the objectives of this study were to assess the accuracy of rectal palpation (RP) in selecting recipients according to the size and firmness of their corpus luteum (CL) compared to ultrasonography (US) and progesterone determination (P4); to check if US or P4 provide additional information to RP with regard to selecting animals with higher odds of maintaining the pregnancy; and to verify the reliability of the presence of a cavity and the volume of the CL within the ovary (%CLOV) as predictors of the ET outcome. In Experiment 1, measurements for the largest and minor diameter (LADCL and MIDCL), CL area, and P4 at ET day were collected, as well as the RP score, in 94 heifers.

Metastatic tumor-draining lymph nodes (mTDLN) are the first encounter site between the metastatic CM cells and an organized immune structure. Therefore, their study may reveal mechanisms that could influence patients´ outcomes.

The NiFe hydrogenases 1 and 2 (Hyd 1 and Hyd 2) from both consist of a large catalytic subunit that embeds the same dinuclear active site and a small electron-transfer subunit with a chain of three FeS clusters. Hyd 1 is mostly active in H oxidation and resistant to inhibitors, whereas Hyd 2 also catalyzes H production and is strongly inhibited by O and CO.

For over a century, it was thought that the crystalline polymorph II of benzophenone does not possess a stable domain in the pressure-temperature phase diagram. With a combination of new experimental results and literature data, this case of crystalline dimorphism has finally been solved and it is shown that form II possesses a stable domain at high pressure and high temperature, even though its density is lower than that of form I, the stable form under ordinary pressure and temperature conditions. The phase diagram of benzophenone is a clear demonstration of the fact that to understand the phase behaviour of a chemical substance both the exchange of heat (due to the change in intermolecular interactions) and work (due to the change of volume at a given pressure) need to be taken into account.
