Background: The associations between deprivation and illness trajectory after hospitalisation for coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) are uncertain.

Methods: A prospective, multicentre cohort study was conducted on post-COVID-19 patients, enrolled either in-hospital or shortly post-discharge. Two evaluations were carried out: an initial assessment and a follow-up at 28-60 days post-discharge.

Article Synopsis
  • In psychology, people often think of happiness and subjective well-being as the same thing, but this text argues they are different.
  • It suggests that cultures that focus a lot on being super happy (especially in Western countries) might be influenced by their nicer living environments.
  • Lastly, the text warns that trying to make everyone happy the same way can be tricky because it doesn't work for all cultures equally.

Rett syndrome (RS) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder first described in 1966. It is characterized by the arrest and regression of intellectual, motor, and communicative developmental milestones, followed by the appearance of hand stereotypies after an apparently normal development period. Pathogenic variants in the MECP2 gene have been identified as a cause in most cases.

Purpose: Segmentation and reconstruction of arterial blood vessels is a fundamental step in the translation of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to the clinical practice. Four-dimensional flow magnetic resonance imaging (4D Flow-MRI) can provide detailed information of blood flow but processing this information to elucidate the underlying anatomical structures is challenging. In this study, we present a novel approach to create high-contrast anatomical images from retrospective 4D Flow-MRI data.

Background: Post-COVID-19 syndromes have associated with female sex, but the pathophysiological basis is uncertain.

Aim: There are sex differences in myocardial inflammation identified using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in post-COVID-19 patients, and in patient reported health outcomes following COVID-19 infection.

Design: This prospective study investigated the time-course of multiorgan injury in survivors of COVID-19 during convalescence.

Background: We investigated the associations of healthcare worker status with multisystem illness trajectory in hospitalised post-COVID-19 individuals.

Methods And Results: One hundred and sixty-eight patients were evaluated 28-60 days after the last episode of hospital care. Thirty-six (21%) were healthcare workers.

Background: Over two-thirds of nursing home (NH) residents are eligible for palliative care (PC), yet few receive it, particularly outside of hospice. Little is known about the technical feasibility and acceptability of using telehealth for PC consultations in NHs.

Objective: To determine the technical feasibility and acceptability of PC telehealth for NH residents seen by a PC team in the hospital in the previous 30 days.

Despite arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) being the preferred vascular access for haemodialysis, high primary failure rates (30-70%) and low one-year patency rates (40-70%) hamper their use. Furthermore, AVF creation has been associated with haemodynamic changes causing maladaptive cardiac remodelling leading to cardiovascular (CV) complications. In this study, we present a new workflow for characterising the haemodynamic profile prior to and following surgical creation of a successful left radiocephalic AVF in a 20-year-old end-stage kidney disease patient.

Background: Vascular calcification is an independent predictor of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease. Computed tomography (CT) is the gold-standard for detecting vascular calcification. Radial volumetric-interpolated breath-hold examination (radial-VIBE), a free-breathing gradient-echo cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) sequence, has advantages over CT as it is ionising radiation-free.

We prove analytically the existence of chaotic dynamics in the forced SIR model. Although numerical experiments have already suggested that this model can exhibit chaotic dynamics, a rigorous proof (without computer-aided) was not given before. Under seasonality in the transmission rate, the coexistence of low birth and mortality rates with high recovery and transmission rates produces infinitely many periodic and aperiodic patterns together with sensitive dependence on the initial conditions.

Unlabelled: The Test of Mobile Phone Dependence (TMD) questionnaire (Chóliz, 2012) evaluates the main features of mobile phone dependence: tolerance, abstinence syndrome, impaired impulse control, associated problems, excessive use, etc.

Objective: The objective of this study was to develop a multicultural version of the TMD (TMDbrief) adapted to suit the novel communication tools of smartphones.

Procedure: In this study, the TMD was completed by 2,028 young respondents in six distinct world regions: Southern Europe, Northwest Europe, South-America, Mesoamerica, Pakistan, and India.

The central purpose of this study was to analyze the dynamics of handwriting movements in real time for Spanish students in early grades with and without learning disabilities. The sample consisted of 120 children from Grades 1 through 3 (primary education), classified into two groups: with learning disabilities and without learning disabilities. The Early Grade Writing Assessment tasks selected for this purpose were writing the alphabet in order from memory, alphabet copying in cursive and manuscript, and allograph selection.

Purpose: To use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at two field strengths to assess healthy adults' regional myocardial noncontrast (native) T1 relaxation time distribution, and global myocardial native T1 between sexes and across age groups.

Materials And Methods: In all, 84 healthy volunteers underwent MRI at 1.5T and 3.

Tropomodulin is a 40.6-kD protein that colocalizes with actin filament pointed ends in skeletal muscle. We report the sequence of two partial-length complementary DNA (cDNA) clones of rat cardiac tropomodulin that cover 90% of the coding region.
