Aim: Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) are the two main techniques used for endoscopic resection of superficial rectal tumours. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of ESD and EMR in treating superficial rectal tumours.
Method: A retrospective observational study was conducted at two French centres including all patients treated with ESD or EMR for superficial rectal tumours.

The behavior and removal of roxithromycin (ROX), oxytetracycline (OTC), chlortetracycline (CTC), and enrofloxacin (ENR) were investigated during the steady state of sludge anaerobic digestion (AD) in semi-continuous mode (37 °C). Sludge was spiked at realistic concentrations (50 μg/L of each antibiotic) and then used to feed the bioreactor for 80 days. Antibiotics were extracted from the substrate and digested sludge samples by accelerated solvent extraction (ASE).

Our research objective was to investigate the consequences of the environmental conditions of the parent plant for bacterial seed microbiome assembly and transmission across plant generations. Using a fully factorial, three-generational experimental design, we investigated endophytic seed bacterial communities of common bean lines ( L.

Methods: Multicenter retrospective study.
Main Outcomes: recurrence at first endoscopic follow-up, En bloc, R0 and curative resections.
Manipulating the seedling microbiota through seed or soil inoculations has the potential to improve plant health. Mixed in-field results have been attributed to a lack of consideration for ecological processes taking place during seedling microbiota assembly. In this opinion article, we (i) assess the contribution of ecological processes at play during seedling microbiota assembly (e.

A multiomic approach was performed at different seed developmental stages of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) during asymptomatic colonization by Xanthomonas citri pv.

A recent randomized trial showed that ESD is more effective and only slightly riskier than piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection; reproducibility outside expert centers was questioned. We evaluated the results according to the annual case volume in a multicentric prospective cohort.

Introduction: The prevalence of Barrett's esophagus (BE) in France is unknown. However, the management of dysplastic BE in expert centers is recommended and reduces the risk of developing invasive adenocarcinoma. Our aim was to determine the burden of BE patients in the Paris Region.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Aims: Characterization of visible abnormalities in patients with Barrett's esophagus (BE) can be challenging, especially for inexperienced endoscopists. This results in suboptimal diagnostic accuracy and poor interobserver agreement. Computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) systems may assist endoscopists.

Methods: Data from patients at 16 centers were collected for a multicenter retrospective study. Patients who underwent at least one RFA treatment for Barrett's esophagus and thereafter underwent further esophageal ESD for neoplasia recurrence were included.
Sewer biofilms are likely to constitute hotspots for selecting and accumulating antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). This study aimed to optimize culture conditions to obtain biofilms, mimicking the biofilm collected in sewers, to study the impact of fluoroquinolones (FQs) on sewer biofilm microbiota. Biofilms were grown on coupons in CDC Biofilm Reactors®, continuously fed with nutrients and inoculum (1/100 diluted wastewater).

The presence of antibiotics in the environment and their continuous release from sewage treatment plants, chemical manufacturing plants and animal husbandry, agriculture and aquaculture, result in constant selection pressure on microbial organisms. This presence leads to the emergence, mobilization, horizontal gene transfer and a selection of antibiotic resistance genes, resistant bacteria and mobile genetic elements.

To date, only few studies proposed the use of SynCom on seed despite its potential for plant microbiota engineering. We developed and presented a simple and effective seedling microbiota engineering method using SynCom inoculation on seeds.

Endoscopy and endorectal ultrasonography are essential for the precise initial definition of these small cancers. During endoscopy, the depth of the lesion can be estimated using virtual chromoendoscopy with magnification, thereby aiding the assessment of the possibilities of local excision.

The type VI secretion system (T6SS), an interference contact-dependent mechanism, is a critical component of interbacterial competition.

Piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has a low adverse event (AE) rate but a variable recurrence rate necessitating early follow-up. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) can reduce recurrence but may increase AEs.

The aim of this study was to develop, test, and benchmark a CADe system for early neoplasia in Barrett's oesophagus.
Methods: The CADe system was first pretrained with ImageNet followed by domain-specific pretraining with GastroNet.
MR1 : ESGE recommends the following standards for Barrett esophagus (BE) surveillance:- a minimum of 1-minute inspection time per cm of BE length during a surveillance endoscopy- photodocumentation of landmarks, the BE segment including one picture per cm of BE length, and the esophagogastric junction in retroflexed position, and any visible lesions- use of the Prague and (for visible lesions) Paris classification- collection of biopsies from all visible abnormalities (if present), followed by random four-quadrant biopsies for every 2-cm BE length.Strong recommendation, weak quality of evidence. MR2: ESGE suggests varying surveillance intervals for different BE lengths.
