The authors present their technique, which combines a number of techniques already described in the literature regarding repositioning of the nipple-areola complex, reduction of the diameter of the base of the breast, and long-term retention of mammary cone projection. This study evaluated the results for patients of various ages and phenotypes in terms of scar dimensions, breast positioning, and patient satisfaction in the short, medium, and long terms.

It has been possible to develop a technical procedure that quantifies the number of live fat cells in 1 mm of injection. Without taking into account different methods for fat injection, there is a 95% correct conclusion that it is immaterial whether the syringe or a cannula with a pump is used.

Recently, the ligand for ORL-1, orphanin FQ/nociceptin (OFQ/N), has been characterized and also demonstrated to be present in the VMH. The present experiments examined whether OFQ/N in the VMH facilitates lordosis behavior in estrogen-primed, sexually unreceptive female rats, and whether estrogen regulates ORL-1 levels in the VMH.

The authors register a revision of the literature regarding the types of low transversal pubic incisions used in abdominoplasty. Since 1987, the traditional open W-type incision changed to a new type called the bicycle handlebar. In this procedure, the pubic segment remains in a lower line at the level of the pubic hair, while the lateral limbs are in a high position.

Comments regarding and illustrations of the different clinical appearances of local skin turgor and fat deposits are also noted. A classification of the different types of flank distortions, whether or not combined with similar problems of the surrounding regions, complete the study for the indication of correct treatment.

The experiences of almost three decades of performing various types of body contouring surgery, in both pre- and postlipoplasty periods, using many different techniques are described. Contouring surgery for such body areas as the abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, and buttocks is discussed in detail.

This procedure has been used for specific cases of flaccid abdominal wall skin and excess striae located throughout the abdominal region, mostly above the umbilical line. Applying the conventional low horizontal incision, the amount of striae to be resected with the excess skin is not sufficient to dislocate the highest striae to a lower position.

The authors present a simple surgical procedure for changing a pointed chin into a square one, through the resectioning of a horizontal bone fragment of the free edge of the mentum. An amount of soft tissue of this region can be resected during surgery as a secondary reshaping maneuver. A third technical detail can be added to improve the final result, using a small bone resection wedge in the middle of the mentum edge.
