Aim: Our aim was to examine how fever duration affected the ability of biomarkers to diagnose community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of children aged 2-18 years who attended the emergency department at Schneider Children's Medical Centre of Israel with CAP from June 2015 to May 2020. The children underwent biomarker measurements and chest radiographs and optimal biomarker thresholds were identified.
Generation of a functional and self-tolerant T cell repertoire is a complex process dependent on the thymic microenvironment and, primarily, on the properties of its extracellular matrix (ECM). Thymic epithelial cells (TECs) are crucial in thymopoiesis, nurturing and selecting developing T cells by filtering self-reactive clones. TECs have been empirically demonstrated to be particularly sensitive to physical and chemical clues supplied by the ECM and classical monolayer cell culture leads to a quick loss of functionality until their death.

The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.

A search for exotic decays of the Higgs boson () with a mass of 125 to a pair of light pseudoscalars is performed in final states where one pseudoscalar decays to two quarks and the other to a pair of muons or leptons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 recorded with the CMS detector is analyzed. No statistically significant excess is observed over the standard model backgrounds.

This retrospective, multicenter cohort study was conducted in Colombia and included patients infected with carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative rods between 2017 and 2021. Carbapenem resistance was identified by Vitek, and carbapenemase-encoding genes were identified by whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to classify the alleles and sequence types (STs).

Three structures are found, and a model with quantum interference among these structures provides a good description of the data. A new structure is observed with a local significance above 5 standard deviations at a mass of 6638_{-38}^{+43}(stat)_{-31}^{+16}(syst) MeV.

Objectives: Surgical management of mitral valve disease is challenging in infants <1 year old. We aimed at reviewing the French experience with Melody mitral valve replacement in critically ill infants.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study reporting the French experience with Melody mitral valve replacement.
The first search for scalar leptoquarks produced in τ-lepton-quark collisions is presented. It is based on a set of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. The reconstructed final state consists of a jet, significant missing transverse momentum, and a τ lepton reconstructed through its hadronic or leptonic decays.

The analysis is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton (pp) collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV produced by the LHC in 2016-2018. No significant excess over the predicted backgrounds is observed.

Cardiopulmonary limitations may not be clinically evident at rest. Data regarding exercise limitation in adolescents following preterm birth in the postsurfactant era are limited.

Background: Population genetic carrier screening (PGCS) for cystic fibrosis (CF) has been offered to couples in Israel since 1999 and was included in a fully subsidized national program in 2008. We evaluated the impact of PGCS on CF incidence, genetic and clinical features.
Methods: This was a retrospective national study.

Dynamic hyperinflation (DH) is seen in obstructive lung diseases while exercising. Our aim was to assess whether DH could predict pulmonary deterioration in CF; a secondary measure was the peak VO.
