The case notes of 841 subjects who had had ECochG carried out between January 1972 and December 1980, were examined and the results compared with PTA results in 263 cases in which these were available. ECochG was found to be a good predictor of peripheral hearing as long as its limitations were recognized, and some of these are discussed. BSER, which has similar limitations, was also found to be a good predictor of peripheral hearing, although slightly less sensitive, and sometimes gave additional information on the hearing loss and the clinical state of the patient.

The effects on rat liver of probucol (250 or 500 mg/kg/24 h), clofibrate (250 mg/kg/24 h) and fenofibrate (100 mg/kg/24 h) were compared after 28 days' treatment. Th bodyweight of animals treated with probucol 250 mg/kg/24 h has increased, as compared with a control group of untreated animals. The increase in liver weight and live weight/bodyweight ratio was greater in rats treated with clofibrate or fenofibrate than in rats treated with probucol.

One was designed to compared rat liver cell ultrastructure during and after 91 d of dosing with probucol, a hypocholesterolemic agent, and clofibrate, a hypolipidemic drug known to elicit marked alteration of rat hepatocellular morphology. The second was designed to similarly assess male rats after 28 d of treatment with the hypolipidemic agent fenofibrate.

Of 40 monkeys on test, 14 were killed for interim studies (wk 81 and 102), 21 were maintained for more than 8 yr, and 5 were submitted for necropsy for conditions unrelated to treatment.

The matching is a specification of the geometrical disparity between the images and may be used to partially reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of the scene. Sets of candidate matching points are selected independently in each image.

Extirpation of the endolymphatic anlage of the ear vesicle or that part of the ear placode which develops into the endolymphatic anlage in chick embryos, resulted in the absence of the endolymphatic system. In specimens of which the endolymphatic anlage was removed on the fourth day, healing of the wound was completed soon after the fifth day of incubation. Most of these experimental animals developed endolymphatic hydrops at a later stage.
