Anesthesia-related oropharyngeal injuries are known to occur. Risk factors for intraoperative dental injuries include difficult intubation, use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) probe, motor-evoked potential (MEP) monitoring, poor dental hygiene, etc. Our patient was a case of a thalamic cavernoma who underwent craniotomy in a sitting position with the neck flexed along with MEP and TEE monitoring.

Patients with permanent pacemaker posted for cervical spine instrumentation pose special challenges for modern-day anesthesiologist since the field of surgery is in proximity to the pacing apparatus. The important considerations in this regard are pacemaker dependency, prior reprogramming to asynchronous mode, perioperative interference with pacemaker function due to electrolyte, acid-base disturbances, and electromagnetic interference leading to pacemaker failure and hemodynamic compromise. We report successful anesthetic management of a patient of postlaminectomy kyphosis with compressive myelopathy with permanent pacemaker who underwent C5-C6 corpectomy and instrumentation under general anesthesia.

Hypertension in the clinical setting of posterior fossa tumors is a known entity and occurs due to medullary compression by the tumor. Such hypertension usually responds to tumor excision. Postoperative hypertension occurring after posterior fossa tumor excision has been attributed to brain stem edema in a single report earlier, which resolved without any intervention.
