The IR Biotyper as a tool for typing organisms of significance for hospital epidemiology- A subject review.

The IR Biotyper is a novel real-time typing tool, based on a Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy system. It has emerged as a promising method for the strain typing of various microorganisms and for the detection of their clonal spread within hospitals. In this review, we aim to present the applications and accuracy of the IR Biotyper in hospital epidemiology.

Development and implementation of a physiotherapy exercise intervention with tailored support for exercise adherence for people with vertebral fragility fractures (OPTIN trial).

Objectives: The OsteoPorosis Tailored exercise adherence INtervention (OPTIN) trial is a two-arm, multi-centre randomised controlled trial. It compares the effectiveness of physiotherapy exercise rehabilitation with integrated support for exercise adherence, to physiotherapy exercise rehabilitation alone, for people with vertebral fragility fracture (VFF) and back pain. This paper describes the development of the physiotherapist-led adherence enhanced intervention.

Applicability of Vfrac in men: a qualitative study of an osteoporotic vertebral fracture screening tool for use in older people with back pain.

Unlabelled: The Vfrac clinical screening tool was developed to help primary care healthcare practitioners decide if an older woman with back pain is at high risk of a vertebral fragility fracture (VFF) and requires a spinal radiograph to confirm diagnosis. The Vfrac tool developmental work was carried out in women because of the higher background prevalence of VFF. We now wish to assess Vfrac in men.

Nutritional Knowledge and Practices of Low-Income Women During Pregnancy: A Qualitative Study in Two Oaxacan Cities.

Background: Adequate dietary intake is critical for healthy pregnancies. Recent changes in social services in Mexico, coupled with high levels of food insecurity, call into question whether expecting women of the lowest socioeconomic status are able to meet their dietary and nutritional needs in this changing context. The aim of this study was to explore the nutritional practices, education and received and employed among women during their pregnancy.

We aimed to undertake a comprehensive review of qualitative research to understand children and adolescent pain experiences across contexts. We used the 7 stages of meta-ethnography to synthesise findings.

The development of nonopioid analgesics for the treatment of abdominal pain is a pressing clinical problem. To address this, we examined the expression of Gi/o-coupled receptors, which typically inhibit nociceptor activation, in colonic sensory neurons. This led to the identification of the orphan receptor GPR35 as a visceral analgesic drug target because of its marked coexpression with transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), a mediator of noxious mechanotransduction in the bowel.

Telerehabilitation Compared to Center-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation for People with Chronic Respiratory Disease: Economic Analysis of a Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trial.

Rationale: New pulmonary rehabilitation models can improve access to this effective but underutilised treatment for people with chronic respiratory disease, however cost effectiveness has not been determined.

Objective: To compare the cost effectiveness of telerehabilitation, including videoconferencing and synchronous supervision, to standard center-based pulmonary rehabilitation.

Methods: Prospective economic analyses were undertaken from a societal perspective alongside a randomised controlled equivalence trial in which adults with stable chronic respiratory disease undertook an 8-week outpatient center-based program or telerehabilitation.

The experience of patients undergoing aseptic, elective revision knee joint replacement surgery: a qualitative study.

Background: Around 6,000 revision knee replacement procedures are performed in the United Kingdom each year. Three-quarters of procedures are for aseptic, elective reasons, such as progressive osteoarthritis, prosthesis loosening/wear, or instability. Our understanding of how we can best support these patients undergoing revision knee replacement procedures is limited.

The importance of A-site cation chemistry in superionic halide solid electrolytes.

Halide solid electrolytes do not currently display ionic conductivities suitable for high-power all-solid-state batteries. We explore the model system AZrCl (A = Li, Na, Cu, Ag) to understand the fundamental role that A-site chemistry plays on fast ion transport. Having synthesised the previously unknown AgZrCl we reveal high room temperature ionic conductivities in CuZrCl and AgZrCl of 1 × 10 and 4 × 10 S cm, respectively.

Intersectoral collaboration in the COVID-19 response in Latin America and the Caribbean.

World Health Organization (WHO) / Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) encouraged the utilization of whole-of-society and whole-of-government strategic approaches to increase countries' resilience towards mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Strategies included the implementation of multi-sectoral, multi-partner and multi-stakeholder planning, coordination, consultation, and action. We reviewed the experiences of three Latin American and Caribbean countries, related to the implementation of collaborative strategies in tackling COVID-19, specifically the nature of the collaboration, the dynamics and the stakeholders involved.

This study sought to expand our understanding of the importance of partitioning in determining the impact of intravenous lipid emulsion on aqueous free drug concentrations.

Methods: Twenty-seven drugs and associated metabolites were screened for the ability of intravenous lipid emulsion to reduce the amount of free drug in the aqueous phase, using specialised cassettes designed for this purpose.

Activating mutations in the ZCFs Mrr1, Tac1, and Upc2 frequently cause acquired resistance to the widely used antifungal drug fluconazole in the pathogenic yeast . Similar to a hyperactive Tac1, a constitutively active form of the ZCF Znc1 causes increased fluconazole resistance by upregulating the multidrug efflux pump-encoding gene .

Key ingredients for successful collaboration in health research: perspectives of patient research partners.

Background: There are increasing publications on meaningful collaboration between researchers and patient research partners (PRPs), but fewer publications of such work from the PRP perspective using an evaluation framework. Our aim is to present our own perspectives and reflections on meaningful collaboration as PRPs working on a qualitative research study.
