Background/aim: PD-L1 inhibitors have been approved for cisplatin-ineligible urothelial cancer patients relapsing after radical cystectomy. A prerequisite for therapy is a positive PD-L1 expression in the tumor tissue, whereas no options are available for patients with negative PD-L1 status. However, studies revealed that many PD-L1-negative patients also responded to PD-L1 therapy.
