Objectives: Immunocompromised patients may experience prolonged shedding of influenza virus potentially leading to severe infections. Alternatives to monotherapy with neuraminidase inhibitors should be evaluated to entirely suppress viral replication and prevent drug-resistant mutations.
Methods: We investigated the clinical and virological evolution in a case of persistent influenza A and human coronavirus OC43 (HCoV-OC43) coinfection in a hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipient after different therapeutic strategies.
Recent high-level theoretical calculations predict a mild temperature dependence for HO + HO inconsistent with state-of-the-art experimental determinations that upheld the stronger temperature dependence observed in early experiments. Via MultiScale Informatics analysis of the theoretical and experimental data, we identified an alternative interpretation of the raw experimental data that uses HO + HO rate constants nearly identical to theoretical predictions─implying that the theoretical and experimental data are actually consistent, at least when considering the raw data from experimental studies. Similar analyses of typical signals from low-temperature experiments indicate that an HOOOOH intermediate─identified by recent theory but absent from earlier interpretations─yields modest effects that are smaller than, but may have contributed to, the scatter in data among different experiments.

Introduction: Following the Covid-19 epidemic affecting 76 of the 97 residents (78.3 %) in a French nursing home, we assessed the impact of this cluster period on the physical and psycho-cognitive health of the residents, expecting in particular to observe effects that were dependent on their state of cognitive-behavioural dependence.
Methods: We retained twenty-two variables, 5 relating to demographic data, 6 to the specific care linked to Covid-19 infection, 6 to somatic pathologies and psycho-behavioural disturbances before the epidemic and 5 to the period following it.
Neonicotinoids are widely used to protect fields against aphid-borne viral diseases. The recent ban of these chemical compounds in the European Union has strongly impacted rapeseed and sugar beet growing practices. The poor sustainability of other insecticide families and the low efficiency of prophylactic methods to control aphid populations and pathogen introduction strengthen the need to characterize the efficiency of new plant protection products targeting aphids.

Phylogenetic analysis of sequences retrieved through this surveillance suggests that detected initial introductions, involving non-clade G viruses, did not seed local transmission. Nevertheless, identification of clade G variants subsequently circulating in the country, with the earliest from a patient who neither travelled to risk areas nor had contact with travellers, suggests that SARS-CoV-2 might have been present before the first recorded local cases.

Changes in crosstalk between the intestinal epithelial cells, immune cells and the microbiota are critically involved in the development of inflammatory bowel disease. In the experimental mouse model, the development of colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) promotes overgrowth of the opportunistic yeast pathogen .

This background is expected to contain unique information from throughout the history of the Universe that is unavailable through standard electromagnetic observations, making its study of fundamental importance to understanding the evolution of the Universe. We carry out a search for the stochastic background with the latest data from the LIGO and Virgo detectors.

The bacterial actin-homolog MreB is a key player in bacterial cell-wall biosynthesis and is required for the maintenance of the rod-like morphology of Escherichia coli. However, how MreB cellular levels are adjusted to growth conditions is poorly understood. Here, we show that DsrA, an E.

The IPN satellites provide accurate times of the bursts and sky localizations that vary significantly from degree scale to hundreds of square degrees. We search for both a well-modeled binary coalescence signal, the favored progenitor model for short GRBs, and for generic, unmodeled gravitational wave bursts.

In November 1983, HB A2 Babinga was found in a Columbian male in Paris. Blood samples from Columbia showed that his mother and one of his brothers were also Hb A2 Babinga carriers and that his mother and another brother and his sister were Hb S carriers.
