Aims: Since its introduction, alcohol septal ablation (PTSMA) was discussed as treatment option only in elderly symptomatic patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). We report on long-term follow-up after PTSMA with respect to patient's age.
Methods And Results: Between May 2000 and June 2017, we treated 952 consecutive HOCM patients with PTSMA; 133 (14.
Introduction: Sex-related differences in diagnosis and treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) are still unclear. Therefore, we analyzed baseline characteristics of symptomatic patients with indication for alcohol septal ablation (PTSMA) with respect to gender.
Methods And Results: Between 05/2000 and 06/2017 indication for PTSMA was seen in 1014 patients (420 (41.
Background: Alcohol-induced infarction for treatment of symptomatic hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) was discussed as a risk factor for increased cardiac mortality during follow-up.
Objectives: This study sought to report on long-term survival after echo-guided alcohol septal ablation (percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation [PTSMA]) in symptomatic patients with HOCM.
Methods: Between May 2000 and June 2017, PTSMA with alcohol injection was performed in 952 patients (age 55.
Ascospores of Venturia inaequalis, released from pseudothecia in overwintered, infected apple leaves, serve as the primary inoculum for apple scab. In this study, we tested a new sanitation strategy to reduce ascospore inoculum under orchard conditions over three overwintering periods. After leaf fall, nutrient media containing different concentrations of degraded casein or a yeast extract from Saccharomyces cerivisiae were applied to leaf litter infected with apple scab.

However, there is concern of a higher risk for ventricular tachyarrhythmias and sudden death due to the myocardial scar created after PTSMA. We investigated the possibility of increased ventricular arrhythmias and risk of sudden death after PTSMA in a subgroup of patients with an already implanted ICD.

Risk stratification models including patient history (syncope, familial risk of sudden death) and findings in noninvasive tests (nonsustained ventricular tachycardia, abnormal blood pressure response during exercise, maximum left ventricular wall thickness > or = 30 mm) have been developed in order to estimate the risk of individual patients.

Therefore we developed a screening for auditory perception and speech and language processing, analyzed it statistically and evaluated it in 180 children from 15 preschools. The screening comprises 7 tasks: auditory short-term memory, phonological analyses of word-initial sounds, syllable segmentation, phonological discrimination, articulatory sequencing, semantic versus phonological classification, and rhyming.
