It takes a village: A pilot study of a group telehealth intervention for support persons affected by opioid use disorder.

Introduction: Opioid use disorder (OUD) has devastating effects on individuals, families, and communities. The Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is a Support Person (SP)-focused intervention that aims to increase SPs' communication strategies, positive reinforcement/rewards, and social support. This pilot study, called eINSPIRE (INtegrating Support Persons Into REcovery), adapted CRAFT for delivery via group telehealth.

Introduction: This personal narrative describes our family's struggle with my adult son's substance use disorder (SUD). Years of traditional tough love treatment programs worsened his SUD and our relationship. When he experienced drug induced psychosis and was hospitalized, I realized I needed to change my approach and understand his behaviors.

Aspergillus fumigatus empyema, arthritis, and calcaneal osteomyelitis in a lung transplant patient successfully treated with posaconazole.

A 64-year-old male with Aspergillus fumigatus infection that had disseminated from the lung to the ankle and adjacent bone was treated successfully with posaconazole after therapy with itraconazole and amphotericin B lipid complex failed. Marked clinical improvement occurred within 6 weeks of initiation of posaconazole therapy; after 6 months, infection had resolved at all sites. The patient has had no recurrence of infection.

Risk of fungemia due to Rhodotorula and antifungal susceptibility testing of Rhodotorula isolates.

Rhodotorula infections occur among patients with immunosuppression and/or central venous catheters. Using standardized methods (NCCLS M27-A), we determined the antifungal susceptibilities of 10 Rhodotorula bloodstream infection isolates. Patient information was collected for clinical correlation.

Identification of Histoplasma capsulatum from culture extracts by real-time PCR.

We designed and tested a real-time LightCycler PCR assay for Histoplasma capsulatum that correctly identified the 34 H. capsulatum isolates in a battery of 107 fungal isolates tested and also detected H. capsulatum in clinical specimens from three patients that were culture positive for this organism.
