For cells to perform their biological functions, they need to adopt specific shapes and form functionally distinct subcellular compartments. This is achieved in part via an asymmetric distribution of mRNAs within cells. Currently, the main model of mRNA localization involves specific sequences called "zipcodes" that direct mRNAs to their proper locations.

Cells adopt highly polarized shapes and form distinct subcellular compartments in many cases due to the localization of many mRNAs to specific areas, where they are translated into proteins with local functions. This mRNA localization is mediated by specific cis-regulatory elements in mRNAs, commonly called 'zipcodes'. Although there are hundreds of localized mRNAs, only a few zipcodes have been characterized.

Comprehensive genomic profiling using cancer gene panels has been shown to improve treatment options for a variety of cancer types. However, genomic aberrations detected via such gene panels do not necessarily serve as strong predictors of drug sensitivity. In this study, using pharmacogenomics datasets of cell lines, patient-derived xenografts, and ex vivo treated fresh tumor specimens, we demonstrate that utilizing the transcriptome on top of gene panel features substantially improves drug response prediction performance in cancer.

Tumors are complex tissues of cancerous cells surrounded by a heterogeneous cellular microenvironment with which they interact. Single-cell sequencing enables molecular characterization of single cells within the tumor. However, cell annotation-the assignment of cell type or cell state to each sequenced cell-is a challenge, especially identifying tumor cells within single-cell or spatial sequencing experiments.

For the first time were suggested some indices such as the index of ratio of one unit's (higher/highest formation) hospitalization, lost worktime, discharge and mortality to the primary morbidity for one military unit and the same index of ratio to the same criteria for the group of military unit. The mentioned peculiarities are intended for impartial and comprehensive estimation of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation military personnel health status and medical units (establishments) activity. These indices include as criteria of diseases prevalence, morbidity, hospitalization, discharge and mortality characteristics.

Gerontodietology is one of the most important parts of dietetics studying problems of nutrition of elderly and old persons and persons with high risk of early and pathological aging, developing principles of rational nutrition, prophylactic and curative nutrition and methods of its organization. Functional structure of modern gerontodietology, its scientific-methodical bases, terminological features are presented. Composition and features of healthy nutrition of elderly people is described in details, methods of its optimization and individualization are given.

A survey of existing methods of pathogenetic and symptomatic treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis has been made and it has reviewed prospective directions of its therapy. Is also presents a retrospective analysis of our own data of S-adenosylmethionine (Heptral) in 27 patients PBC receiving UDCA basic therapy. In its application intravenously of 400 mg 2 times daily for 3 weeks showed a reduction in the severity of pruritus, assessed by visual analogue scale, a subjective decrease fatigability and a decrease level of serum bilirubin.

The modified diet of postoperative rehabilitation program in elderly patients with gastroduodenal ulcers and prognosis of development of protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) is presented. It is shown that early initiated special diet in postoperative period, blocks mechanisms of malnutrition and can significantly improve the functional status of the small intestine and activate, thus, membrane digestion, which leads to normalization of all types of metabolism in elderly patients. In comparison with control group, where 72% of patients in postoperative period had malnutrition, malnutrition in the study group revealed a mild degree in only 17.

Androstane and delta15-androstane analogues of brassinosteroids were synthesized from dehydroepiandrosterone. The key stage, hydroxylation of 17beta-acetoxyandrost-2-en-6-one double bond with OsO4, yielded the corresponding 2alpha,3alpha- and 2beta,3beta-diols. The target 2alpha,3alpha-isopropylidenedioxy-6,6-ethylenedioxy-5alpha-androst-15-en-17-one and its 2beta,3beta-isomer were obtained by dehydrosilylation of the corresponding silylene ethers with palladium acetate.

DNAase activity of 110 samples of IgG from the blood of AIDS patients was analyzed. It was shown that the relative activity of preparations varies very much from patient to patient, but 96% preparations show detectable level of DNAase activity. Several rigid criteria were applied and it was shown that DNAase activity is an intrinsic property of antibodies from AIDS patients.

Proteolytic activity of polyclonal IgG antibodies (Abs) from the blood of AIDS patients was analyzed for the first time. These Abs were shown to display higher activity in hydrolysis of beta-casein than in hydrolysis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) or human serum albumin (HSA). Several abzymatic criteria were applied and it was shown that RT, HSA, and beta-casein hydrolyzing activities are an intrinsic property of polyclonal Abs from AIDS patients.

DNA-hydrolyzing antibodies (DNA-abzymes, Abz) were shown to be good biochemical markers of some autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and multiple sclerosis (MS). To better understand mechanisms of abzyme generation, one needs to know optimal conditions for DNA hydrolysis by DNA-abzymes, as well as their enzymatic properties in comparison with those of enzymes possessing the same activity. In contrast to human urine deoxyribonucleases, DNA-hydrolyzing antibodies efficiently digested both single- and double-strand DNA.

Although mammalian deoxyribonucleases were discovered more than 60 years ago, interest in these enzymes is not weakening. During the last decade, intensive studies of human DNases culminated in discovery of several novel enzymes exhibiting DNase activity. These include an unusual DNase, lactoferrin.
