Pituitary hormones play a crucial role in regulating skeletal physiology, and skeletal fragility is a frequent complication of pituitary diseases. The ability to predict the risk of fracture events is crucial for guiding therapeutic decisions; however, in patients with pituitary diseases, fracture risk estimation is particularly challenging. Compared to primary osteoporosis, the evaluation of bone mineral density by dual X-ray absorptiometry is much less informative about fracture risk.

Objective: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate whether trabecular bone microarchitecture, assessed by trabecular bone score (TBS), is altered in chronic PPI users.
Context: Hyponatremia is associated with increased risk of osteoporosis and fractures. The impact of hyponatremia on non-invasive indices of bone quality, however, is unknown.
Objective: To evaluate whether trabecular bone microarchitecture, assessed non-invasively by trabecular bone score (TBS), is altered in patients with hyponatremia.
Background: Osteoporosis is a common concern in the elderly that leads to fragile bones. Calcium supplementation plays a crucial role in improving bone health, reducing fracture risk, and supporting overall skeletal strength in this vulnerable population. However, there is conflicting evidence on the safety of calcium supplements in elderly individuals.

The trabecular bone score (TBS) has been developed as a reliable noninvasive index of bone quality. However, its utility in this setting is still debated.

Objective: To make active surveillance available for patients with LRPC using a research framework and to compare patient characteristics and clinical outcomes between those who receive active surveillance vs radical treatments at diagnosis.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This population-based, prospective cohort study was designed by a large multidisciplinary group of specialists and patients' representatives.

Background: Conventional glucocorticoids (C-GC) replacement regimens have a detrimental effect on skeletal health in patients with adrenal insufficiency (AI), ultimately leading to an increased fracture risk. The novel dual-release hydrocortisone (DR-HC) formulations are characterized by a more favourable safety profile on various clinical endpoints. Data comparing the impact of C-GC and DR-HC on bone, however, are scarce.

The aim of our study was to evaluate the short-term effects of this procedure on ejaculation preservation and urinary obstruction. The International Prostate Symptom Index (IPSS), quality of life (QoL), and Male Sexual Health Questionnaire Ejaculatory Dysfunction (MSHQ-EJD) Short Form were used as validated instruments to quantify ejaculatory dysfunction before and 6 months after the surgery.

Aim of our study was to investigate disease recurrence and mortality rate as well as their predictors in a series of patients with PC or AA.
Methods: Clinical and biochemical parameters, histological features, incidence of disease recurrence and mortality rate were retrospectively assessed in 39 patients (51% males, mean age 56.
Background: Skeletal muscle loss (sarcopenia) has been linked to cancer cachexia and can predict survival in several tumors, including advanced genitourinary malignancies.
Objective: To investigate the predictive and prognostic role of sarcopenia in patients with T1 high grade (HG) non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) treated with adjuvant intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG).
Design Setting And Participants: Oncological outcomes were evaluated for 185 patients with T1 HG NMIBC treated with BCG at two European referral centers.
Objective: The glucagon stimulation test involves the peptide intramuscular or subcutaneous administration for the diagnosis of hypopituitarism. To date, no data are available regarding its intranasal formulation. Our study intended to investigate the role of intranasal glucagon as a potential stimulus test for the evaluation of the corticotropic, somatotropic, and antidiuretic axes.

However, due to the pathophysiology of acromegalic osteopathy, bone mineral density (BMD) does not represent a reliable predictor for fragility fractures in this setting. Trabecular bone score (TBS) has been recently evaluated as an alternative index of skeletal fragility in acromegalic patients.

The photochromic compound DTE bears two pyrene chromophores, judiciously positioned to face each other in the DTE's open form. The close proximity of the pyrenes in the open form is confirmed by NMR experiments and geometry optimization.

HALS recognition, based on clinical ground, may be inaccurate urging an objective instrumental diagnosis. The aim of this study is to search for the DXA-derived fat mass ratio (FMR) threshold, among those suggested for the diagnosis of HALS, able to identify PLHIV at high cardiovascular risk.

Methods: An anonymous survey was distributed to patients who were referred to 22 Italian academic institutions. The survey aimed to investigate the professional figure of the urology resident as perceived by the patient.
Introduction: The size of penis can cause concern in patients, even if the organ is clinically normal. Additionally, the cost of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (iPDE5) and long waiting lists to access penile prosthesis placement can lead patients to resort to non-medical and potentially dangerous alternatives. One of these dangerous alternatives is the injection of building silicone at the level of the subcutis of the penis or the corpora cavernosa causing the formation of a granuloma that increases the girth and consistency of the penis.

Methods: UVENTA urethral stent (Taewoong Medical) is a temporary self expandable covered metallic stent. Anti-migration system and different radial force distribution are the two main innovations.
Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism is characterized by an autonomous hypersecretion of parathyroid hormone by one or more parathyroid glands. Preoperative localization of the affected gland(s) is of key importance in order to allow minimally invasive surgery. At the moment, 11C-Methionine and 18F-Fluorocholine PET studies appear to be among the most promising second-line localization techniques; their comparative diagnostic performance, however, is still unknown.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with monofocal HGPIN (mHGPIN), widespread HGPIN (≥4 cores, wHGPIN) and/or ASAP who underwent at least one rebiopsy during their follow-up, were enrolled. All enrollment biopsies underwent central pathologic revision.
Background: To investigate the perioperative and morbidity outcomes after partial nephrectomy (PN) in patients with short life expectancy (SLE) (≥95% 10-year expected mortality (10y-EM)), to assess the main predictors of outcomes in this population and to compare these results with those of a group at the opposite upper range with long LE (LLE, ≤5% 10y-EM) relying on a multicenter Italian prospective registry of kidney surgery (the RECORD 2 project).
Methods: Clinical data of 4,325 patients undergone kidney surgery were collected at 26 urological Italian Centers from 2013 to 2016. SLE was defined as a ≥95% 10y-EM (assessed using the age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index [CCI]).
Purpose: Hypovitaminosis D has been associated with many cardio-metabolic disorders, although their pathogenetic link still remains unclear. Our aim was to evaluate whether 1-year vitamin D (D) supplementation could improve glycemic control, lipid profile, systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure levels and body composition.
Methods: In an open-label randomized-controlled pilot study, thirty poor-controlled (HbA1c > 59 mmol/mol) type 2 diabetic patients (age 71.
