Amyotroph Lateral Scler Frontotemporal Degener
February 2025
Objective: The primary goal for clinical healthcare professionals is to enhance the quality of life (QOL) of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This study aimed to explore the correlation between social support, coping style, advance care planning (ACP) readiness, and QOL in patients with ALS. We also sought to analyze the mediating effect of coping style and ACP readiness between social support and QOL, and to provide insights for developing targeted interventions to improve patients' QOL.

Patients with hematologic disorders may experience anxiety and depression due to their immunocompromised status and potential side effects of therapies. Healthy lifestyle behaviors might enhance the mental health. To evaluate the association of both separate and clustering pattern lifestyle behaviors with anxiety and depression in hematological patients, healthcare providers can develop future initiatives that respond to the specific needs of this population.

Context: Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) is a common musculoskeletal disorder that seriously affects patients' quality of life (QoL). Clinicians have used Kinesio Taping (KT) in the treatment of CNLBP patients, but evidence is still lacking on the benefits of KT for CNLBP.
Objective: The study aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the currently published randomized controlled trails (RCTs) to determine KT's efficacy for CNLBP patients.
Background: The literatures have demonstrated that Teach-back method is an effective communication tool to understand health education, especially in the elderly patients. However, there is limited research of Teach-back method in preoperative education for outpatient surgical patients. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the Teach-back method on preoperative anxiety and surgical cooperation in elderly patients undergoing outpatient ophthalmology surgery.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a kind of chronic disease of inflammatory joint, which can lead to the damage and disability of bone and cartilage. Psychiatric comorbidity is related to the adverse results of RA. Symptoms of depression is associated with the increased disease activity and decreased response to the treatments.

Methods: A total of 242 family members of stroke patients, who were treated in a tertiary geriatric hospital in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province, were enrolled in the current study by using convenience sampling. Questionnaire forms were used to investigate care stress caused by family members' current care activitiesand analyze its causes.
Background: Cystic echinococcosis is a life-threatening disease caused by the larval stages of the dog tapeworm . Protoscoleces (PSCs) of this worm have the ability of bi-directional development to either larval cysts or strobilar adult worms. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this development process are unknown.

Objective: To compare post-TKA (total knee arthroplasty) analgesic effect of periarticular injection of different analgesics during surgery.
Study Design: Experimental study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Tianjin People's Hospital, from December 2016 to July 2018.
Background: Dogs play a pivotal role in the transmission of cystic echinococcosis (CE), a zoonosis caused by the tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus. We showed previously that dogs vaccinated with two E. granulosus adult-worm specific proteins, EgM9 and EgM123, emulsified with Freund's adjuvants induced significant protective efficacy in terms of reduction in worm burden and egg production after 45 days post-infection.

The present study intended to explicate the pharmacological effect of luteolin (LT) in renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and the possible mechanism of action of LT. MATERIAL AND METHODS The effect of LT on the level of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in the homogenates of kidney tissues of male Swiss albino mice was determined after I/R injury.

However, evidence about reliability and validity of the ASES-8 in Chinese arthritis patients is lacking. This study aimed to culturally adapt and test the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the ASES-8.

Objective: The objectives of this study were to explore and understand Chinese breast cancer survivors' perspective on meaning in life.
Methods: This study used Grounded Theory; 23 participants were recruited using convenience sampling, purposive sampling, and theoretical sampling.
Aims And Objectives: To develop a Meaning in Life Scale for cancer patients in Chinese version and to test the validity and reliability.
Background: Meaning in life is a protective factor of psychological well-being and is negatively related to depression and demoralisation among cancer patients. The existing scales measuring meaning in life are mostly designed in English and there is no scale designed for Chinese cancer patients based on Chinese cultural background.
Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important post-transcriptional regulators which control growth and development in eukaryotes. The cestode Echinococcus granulosus has a complex life-cycle involving different development stages but the mechanisms underpinning this development, including the involvement of miRNAs, remain unknown.
Results: Using Illumina next generation sequencing technology, we sequenced at the genome-wide level three small RNA populations from the adult, protoscolex and cyst membrane of E.
At least 270 million people (58% of the total population) are at risk of cystic echinococcosis (CE) in Central Asia including areas of Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and western China. The annual surgical incidence rate in Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan has been estimated to be as high as 25-27 cases/100,000 with the highest prevalence reaching 10% (range from 0.8 to 11.

In order to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of praziquantel (PZQ) against tapeworm, PZQ-loaded hydrogenated castor oil solid lipid nanoparticle (PZQ-HCO-SLN) suspension was prepared by a hot homogenization and ultrasonication method. The stability of the suspension at 4°C and room temperature was evaluated by the physicochemical characteristics of the nanoparticles and in-vitro release pattern of the suspension.

Objective: To investigate the immune protection of the recombinant membrane protein(45M) against larvae of Taenia multiceps in sheep.
Methods: Twelve sheep were randomly divided into immune group and control group, and each sheep was immunized four times (three weeks interval) respectively with 50 microg recombinant 45M or GST emulsified with adjuvant. Serum samples were collected at pre-immunization and certain time after immunization, and were analyzed for IgG and IgM by ELISA.

Background: Cystic hydatid disease (CHD) is a global parasitic zoonosis caused by the dog tapeworm, Echinococcus granulosus. The disease is hyperendemic in western China because of poor economic development; limited community knowledge of CHD; widespread, small-scale household animal production; home killing of livestock; and the feeding of dogs with uncooked offal.
Methodology/principal Findings: A control program focusing on monthly praziquantel (PZQ) treatment of all registered dogs and culling unwanted and stray dogs has been designed to control CHD in hyperendemic areas in China.

Objective: To verify the application and effectiveness of monthly deworming for all dogs in the control of Echinococcus granulosus infection.
Methods: Baited praziquantel was used to treat all registered dogs monthly by hydatid disease control officers at village level and all stray (unowned) dogs were eliminated in the counties of Hutubi and Wensu in 1987-1990 and 1990-1994 respectively. Prevalence of echinococcosis in dogs and sheep was recorded yearly.
Dogs are pivotal in Echinococcus granulosus transmission to humans, and dog vaccination provides a very practical and cost-effective prevention strategy. We vaccinated dogs with soluble native proteins isolated from protoscoleces of E. granulosus and induced significant suppression of worm growth and egg production.
