Radiographic screens are widely used in high energy physics, national defense, aviation, radiodynamic therapy and medical imaging due to their scintillation materials that can transform high-energy particles or rays into ultraviolet (UV) visible light or other signals. In recent years, lanthanide doped fluoride nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted much attention due to their excellent optical properties and stability. In this work, multiple lanthanide-doped LiLuF nanocrystal scintillation materials were synthesized by thermal decomposition.

Suspended particulate matter (SPM) is a major source of contamination in urban rivers as it serves as a carrier for pollutants, such as heavy metals. In this study, the Beiyun River, northern China, was used as a case study to determine the characteristics of SPM-associated heavy metal spatial distribution, to evaluate the potential ecological risks and identify heavy metal sources. The concentrations of seven heavy metals and other associated indicators (TC, TN, TP, and OM) were measured at 12 sites and analyzed by Pearson correlation (PC) and principal component analyses (PCA).

The frequent interruptions of network operation due to any incident suggest the necessity to study the rules of operational risk propagation in metro networks, especially under fully automatic operations mode. In this study, risk indicator computation models were developed by analyzing risk propagation processes within transfer stations and metro networks. Moreover, indicator variance rules for a transfer station and different structural networks were discussed and verified through simulation.

In this paper, a localized surface-plasmon resonance (LSPR) biosensor, which uses a U-shaped multi-mode fiber (U-MMF), is introduced and investigated. It is modified with a complex of three-dimensional (3D) gold nanoparticles and multilayer graphene as spacer: n*(Au/G)@U-MMF, where n denotes the layer number of gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticles were synthesized by reducing chloroauric acid.

Plant temperature (Tp) is an important indicator of plant health. To determine the dynamics of plant temperature and self-cooling ability of the plant, we measured Tp in Artemisia ordosica in July, in the Mu Us Desert of Northwest China. Related factors were also monitored to investigate their effects on Tp, including environmental factors, such as air temperature (Ta), relative humidity, wind speed; and physiological factors, such as leaf water potential, sap flow, and water content.
