Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how lateral hinge fracture (LHF) impacts the early success of supramalleolar osteotomy (SMO) in treating varus-type ankle osteoarthritis and identify associated risk factors.
  • A total of 39 patients were analyzed, revealing that 13 developed LHF post-surgery while 26 did not, but both groups had similar osteotomy healing times.
  • Significant differences in pain levels and functional scores were found between the two groups at the last follow-up, indicating that LHF may influence outcomes after SMO.

Background: This study aimed to assess the radiological and clinical outcomes of treatment using the ankle dislocation method for posterior malleolar malunion.

Method: Thirty-one patients with posterior malleolar malunion who underwent treatment using the ankle dislocation method from May 2015 to October 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Key outcome measures were radiographic parameters (articular step-off, tibiofibular clear space, fibular length, tibial lateral surface angle, and ankle osteoarthritis), clinical scores (American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle-hindfoot scale and Visual Analogue Scale), and patient satisfaction rate.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of talonavicular-cuneiform joint fusion with iliac bone grafting and without bone grafting in the treatment of Müller-Weiss diseases (MWD).

Methods: The clinical data of 44 patients (44 feet) with MWD who received talonavicular-cuneiform joint fusion between January 2017 and November 2022 and met the selection criteria was retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 25 patients were treated with structural iliac bone grafting (bone grafting group) and 19 patients without bone grafting (non-bone grafting group).

Salt stress is one of the factors that limits rice production, and an important task for researchers is to cultivate rice with strong salt tolerance. In this study, 211 rice accessions were used to determine salt tolerance germinability (STG) indices and conduct a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using 36,727 SNPs. The relative germination energy (RGE), relative germination index (RGI), relative vigor index (RVI), relative mean germination time (RMGT), relative shoot length (RSL), and relative root length (RRL) were used to determine the STG indices in rice.

Background: Rice is a crop that is very sensitive to low temperature, and its morphological development and production are greatly affected by low temperature. Therefore, understanding the genetic basis of cold tolerance in rice is of great significance for mining favorable genes and cultivating excellent rice varieties. However, there have been limited studies focusing on cold tolerance at the bud burst stage; therefore, considerable attention should be given to the genetic basis of cold tolerance at this stage.
