Case report: A rare low-grade fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma.

Aim: To study and analyze the clinicopathological features of low-grade fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma in order to improve the understanding of the diagnosis and management of rare and specific morphological cases of this tumor.

Methods: A case of low-grade FH-deficient renal cell carcinoma in a male is reported, and its clinicopathological features were analyzed and literature review was performed.

Results: A 48-year-old middle-aged male with no relevant positive clinical signs was admitted to the hospital with an incidental finding of a mass in the lower pole of the left kidney during abdominal CT examination.

Case report: The first known case of male retroperitoneal mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma.

Aim: We aimed to analyze the clinico-pathological and molecular features of mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma (MLA) to enhance understanding of this tumor type.

Methods: This is the first case of MLA occurring in the retroperitoneum of a male patient. Clinico-pathological and molecular characteristics were analyzed, and the relevant literature was reviewed.

Prognostic value and immunological role of CSNK1D in human cancers.

CSNK1D, also known as CK1δ, is a crucial gene involved in various biological processes such as cell cycle, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, cell polarity, and cell motility. It is associated with different cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. This study aimed to investigate the role of CSNK1D in multiple human cancers, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), through experiments.

Prognostic nutritional index as a prognostic biomarker for gastrointestinal cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Objective: Our study represents the first meta-analysis conducted to evaluate the prognostic utility of the baseline prognostic nutritional index (PNI) in patients with gastrointestinal cancer (GIC) who received immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy.

Methods: We searched PubMed, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Google Scholar until April 23, 2023, to obtain relevant articles for this study. Our analysis examined several clinical outcomes, including overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR).

Insight Into the Effect of Hospital-Based Prehabilitation on Postoperative Outcomes in Patients With Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Retrospective Comparative Study.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) has become one of the most prevalent joint diseases worldwide, leading to a growing burden of pain and disability as populations age. Although there is consistent evidence to support postoperative rehabilitation and high-intensity prehabilitation for total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the clinical outcomes of hospital-based prehabilitation remain unclear. We aimed to evaluate the effect of a hospital-based prehabilitation program on knee score (KS), function score (FS), and length of stay (LOS) among patients with knee OA after TKA.

TRAF6 expression is associated with poorer prognosis and high recurrence in urothelial bladder cancer.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical significance of TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) expression in urothelial bladder cancer. TRAF6 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry in 126 samples of patients with urothelial bladder cancer. The association between clinicopathological factors and TRAF6 expression was analyzed by χ test.

Cyclosporin A Reversed Chemoresistance of a Patient with Pure Red Cell Aplasia Secondary to Thymoma.

This case study reports on a patient who relapsed with thymoma (mixed type) nine years after tumor resection. After four courses of rescue chemotherapy (docetaxel and cisplatinum), the patient was further diagnosed with pure red cell aplasia. It was noticed that cyclosporin A (CsA), which was administered to treat aplasia, could reverse chemoresistance.

Better Clinical Efficiency of TILs for Malignant Pleural Effusion and Ascites than Cisplatin Through Intrapleural and Intraperitoneal Infusion.

Background/aim: To evaluate the clinical efficiency of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) compared to cisplatin for malignant pleural effusion and ascites through intrapleural and intraperitoneal infusion.

Patients And Methods: Thirteen patients with malignant pleural effusion and ascites were divided into a TIL-treated group and a cisplatin-treated group. Patients were given TILs or cisplatin, through intrapleural and intraperitoneal infusion respectively, after drainage of the malignant serous effusion by thoracentesis or abdominocentesis.

Severe Cardiotoxicity in a Patient with Colorectal Cancer Treated with Bevacizumab.

Background/aim: Bevacizumab combined with standard chemotherapeutics has become a choice of treatment for several kinds of cancers. Hypertension, third-degree albuminuria, thrombosis and cardiotoxicity are the reported side-effects of bevacizumab. Among them, cardiotoxicity is a most severe, but rare outcome.

Holliday junction-recognizing protein promotes cell proliferation and correlates with unfavorable clinical outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Aim: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Holliday junction-recognizing protein (HJURP) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: In this study, we detected the expression of HJURP protein in samples of 164 patients with HCC, and based on this, we divided the patients into two cohorts: high expression of HJURP and low expression of HJURP. We analyzed the correlation between HJURP expression and the clinicopathological factors using chi-square test.

Effective Treatment for Malignant Pleural Effusion and Ascites with Combined Therapy of Bevacizumab and Cisplatin.

Objective: To record the efficacy and toxicity of combining bevacizumab with cisplatin in treating malignant pleural effusion and ascites through intrapleural and intraperitoneal infusion.

Patients And Methods: Forty-three patients were admitted to the Oncology Department of Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital with confirmed malignant effusion since January, 2011. Twenty of them received intrapleural and intraperitoneal perfusion of 200 mg bevacizumab plus 60 mg cisplatin every three weeks, and 23 patients received 60 mg cisplatin alone after draining effusion as much as possible.
