Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) is an inevitable pathological process in liver resection, shock and transplantation. However, the internal mechanism of hepatic IRI, including inflammatory transduction of multiple signaling pathways, is not fully understood. In the present study, we identified pleckstrin homology-like domain family member 1 (PHLDA1), suppressed by microRNA (miR)-194, as a critical intersection of dual inflammatory signals in hepatic IRI.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the prognostic value of the ratio of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) to γδT cells (SGR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to understand their contributions to patient outcomes.
  • A total of 339 HCC patients were analyzed, revealing that a higher SGR is linked to poorer overall and recurrence-free survival, with validation through nomograms.
  • Additionally, positive correlations were found between circulating tumor cell levels and SGR, indicating that patients with high SGR and elevated tumor cells may experience early recurrence.

Background: Conditional survival (CS) could offer reliable prognostic information for patients who survived beyond a specified time since diagnosis when the impact of late effects have the greatest influence on prognosis. We aim to investigate CS for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients with surgery and nonsurgery.

Methods: Chinese PDAC patients between January 2002 and September 2012 were reviewed for analyses.

Objective: To investigate the potential effects on cognitive function, prognosis, and neuropeptide levels of patients in response to combination therapy with ornithine aspartate plus naloxone for hepatic encephalopathy.

Methods: Eighty-four consecutive patients diagnosed with hepatic encephalopathy were randomly divided into two equal groups. The control group (n = 42) received traditional medical treatment, and the research group (n = 42) received the traditional medical treatment as well as the combination therapy with ornithine aspartate plus naloxone.
