- - This study investigates how effective and safe selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) are for treating depression in patients with Parkinson’s disease, using data from various medical databases up until December 2011.
- - The analysis included five clinical trials and found no significant differences in treatment response rates or overall depression scores between SSRIs and TCAs.
- - However, SSRIs showed advantages over TCAs regarding fewer side effects, particularly relating to dry mouth (xerostomia) and constipation.
