In diabetic patients, diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the most common causes of death. The inflammatory response is essential in the pathogenesis of DCM. Rhein, an anthraquinone compound, is extracted from the herb rhubarb, demonstrating various biological activities.

Herein is described a rare clinical case of GTN combined with primary lung cancer and mesenchymal tumor of the sigmoid colon, followed with literature review.
Case Presentation: The patient was hospitalized due to diagnosis of GTN with primary lung cancer.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is widely accepted as a primary treatment for inoperable or locally advanced breast cancer before definitive surgery. However, not all advanced breast cancers are sensitive to NAC. Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) has been considered to assess tumor response to NAC as it can effectively reflect the condition of blood perfusion and lesion size.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome featuring ectopic lipid accumulation in hepatocytes. NAFLD has been a severe threat to humans with a global prevalence of over 25% yet no approved drugs for the treatment to date. Previous studies showed that procyanidin B2 (PCB2), an active ingredient from herbal cinnamon, has an excellent hepatoprotective effect; however, the mechanism remains inconclusive.

Previous studies have considered factors related to TGCT survival rate and race/ethnicity, but histological type of the diagnosed cancer has not yet been thoroughly assessed.
Methods: The data came from 42,854 eligible patients from 1992 to 2015 in the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results 18.

Purpose: To detect the gene expression of miRNAs in patients with periodontitis and to explore their biological functions and involved signaling pathways.
Methods: Bioinformatics analysis of gene chip data from 158 periodontitis patients and 40 healthy controls of the microarray database GSE54710 were performed. The expression changes of miRNAs were analyzed.
The aim is to investigate the mechanism of miR-499a-5p on the damage of cardiomyocyte induced by hypoxia/reoxygenation. The activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), apoptosis rate and the expression of miR-499a-5p and cluster of differentiation 38 (CD38) in hypoxia-reoxygenation model cells were detected by LDH Cytotoxicity Assay Kit, flow cytometry, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and Western blot analysis, respectively. Apoptosis, the activity of LDH was detected after overexpression of miR-499a-5p or silencing of CD38 in H9c2 cells.

However, the underlying mechanisms of insulin resistance during T2D development remains unclear. As the most common mRNAs modification, N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) is involved in many of pathological processes in aging disease.

Extensive studies have focused on the contribution of obesity (excessive mechanical stress), comorbidity frequently found in T2DM, to cartilage destruction during OA development. However, a little is known about how diabetes-related inflammation may affect the local cartilage in a diabetic objective.

The efficacy of the preoperative use of tranexamic acid (TXA) plus drain-clamping to reduce blood loss in TKA has been debated. This meta-analysis aimed to illustrate the efficacy of TXA plus drain-clamping to reduce blood loss in patients who underwent a TKA.

However, the possibilities for the application of blood-based gene methylation as a biomarker for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) detection and screening remain unclear. Hence, we performed this meta-analysis to evaluate the value of gene methylation detected in blood samples as a noninvasive biomarker in NSCLC.

The X-ray diffraction and Fourier infrared spectra were used to analyze the mineralogical attribute of laterite nickel ores from two different places. The results show that these two different silicate nickel ores have unique infrared spectra characteristics individually, which contributes to the ore classification.

Chimpanzees are especially suited to teach us about ourselves, both in terms of their similarities and differences with human, and such important similarities and differences have also been noted for the incidence and severity of several major human diseases. In the present work, we report the entire mitochondrial genome of the Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes ellioti) for the first time. Results shows that this mitogenome is 16,559 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 putative non-coding region (D-loop region).

The traditional methods of SSR marker development, such as genomic-SSR hybrid screening and microsatellite enrichment, have the disadvantages of high cost and complex operation. The selectively amplified microsatellite method is less costly and highly efficient as well as being simple and convenient.

Objective: To study the impact of neoadjuvant therapy on lymph nodes retrieval in locally advanced mid-low rectal carcinoma.
Methods: Data collected from 120 patients with locally advanced mid-low rectal cancer (T2-4 and/or N1-2M0) treated from January 2005 to June 2008 was investigated. The patients were divided into two groups: the study group (n=54) was treated with neoadjuvant therapy (preoperative radiation with a total dosage of 50 Gy and synchronous 5-Fu-based chemotherapy) followed by radical tumor resection 4-6 weeks after;the control group (n=66) underwent primary surgery without neoadjuvant therapy.

The method of "treating the diseases in the upper portion by managing the lower portion" is one of the important therapeutic methods of TCM which originated from the Huangdineijing (Huangdi's Internal Classic). Through textual research on the related articles in Huangdineijing as well as reference to the annotations of past generations, the method of "treating the diseases in the upper portion by managing the lower portion" experienced an evolutional process from the therapeutic method of acupuncture and moxibustion to the therapeutic principle and method of TCM. The method of "needling the lower for the upper" in acupuncture and moxibustion is not the first option in the treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion but the alternative or assisted option after the treatment of "treating the diseases in the upper portion by treating the upper portion".
