A poor prognostic male choriocarcinoma with multiple systemic metastases: a case report and the literature review.

Background: Non-gestational choriocarcinoma, also known as primary choriocarcinoma, is extremely rare in men, manifesting with specific signs such as breast feminization, testicular atrophy, and loss of libido. The presentation typically includes elevated serum β-hCG levels, widespread metastatic disease, and a rapid progression of the condition.

Case Report: We present a rare case of a 41-year-old man diagnosed with choriocarcinoma, exhibiting a unique combination of multiple metastases, including lung, brain, bone, and retroperitoneal lymph node metastases, as confirmed by F-FDG PET/CT imaging.

rTMS alleviates AD-induced cognitive impairment by inhibitng apoptosis in SAMP8 mouse.

This study sought to investigate whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) could alleviate cognitive dysfunction in SAMP8 mice by reducing cell apoptosis and activating the cAMP/PKA/CREB signalling pathway. A total of 40 SAMP8 mice were randomly assigned to the SAMP8 group (n=20), and rTMS treatment group (rTMS+SAMP8, n=20); additionally, 20 homologous and normal aged SAMR1 mice were used as the control group(n=20). The Morris water maze and Y maze tests were applied to evaluate spatial learning and memory ability.

Background: Few studies examined the association of prenatal exposure to green spaces with children's body mass index (BMI) Z-score, and no study evaluated the joint effect of prenatal green spaces and PM or PM exposure on children's BMI Z-score. We aimed to assess the individual and joint effects of prenatal green spaces, PM, and PM exposure on BMI Z-score of children aged two years.

Methods: The study was based on a birth cohort in Beijing, China, in which 13,253 mothers (LMP from 2014 to 2017) and their children were included.

Early brain injury, characterized by massive cell apoptosis or death, is identified as a critical pathophysiological process during subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Ferroptosis, a class of autophagy-dependent cell death discovered in 2012, is induced by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation accumulation. The present study was designed to study the role of baicalin in autophagy-dependent ferroptosis in early brain injury after SAH.

However, the functional role of USP7 in melanoma remains elusive. Here, we found that USP7 is overexpressed in human melanoma by tissue microarray.

The association of prenatal exposure to particulate matter with infant growth: A birth cohort study in Beijing, China.

Limited studies examined the associations of prenatal exposure to particulate matter (PM) and children's growth with inconsistent results, and no study focused on PM. We matched a birth cohort (10,547 children) with daily PM and PM concentrations by maternal home addresses. Air pollution concentrations were predicted by satellite remote sensing data, meteorological factors, and land use information.

Vitamin D Alleviates Cognitive Dysfunction by Activating the VDR/ERK1/2 Signaling Pathway in an Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model.

Objective: Vitamin D (Vit D), a steroid hormone, has been linked to cognitive impairment and dementia, such as Alz-heimer's disease (AD). 1, 25(OH)2D3 is the biologically active form of Vit D, which has been shown to have neuroprotective effects. This compound is being evaluated as an emerging therapeutic treatment in models of AD.

Treatment of a giant complicated distal posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysm: A case report and literature review.

Giant intracranial aneurysms, especially giant aneurysms of the distal posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA), remain the most difficult and challenging cerebrovascular lesions for neurosurgeons to treat. The morbidity and mortality rates of microsurgical clipping are relatively high, and endovascular embolization is also associated with many complications. In the present report, the case of a 46-year-old female patient who presented with headache and dizziness for 3 years, which was aggravated and combined with limb weakness for 1 day, is presented.
