The effect of fennel seeds on pH of saliva - A clinical study.

Context: Saliva is an oral fluid that gives a protective effect against dental caries. Chewing of fennel seeds after food is a common culture in the Indian Sub-continent. A review of previous studies on fennel seeds showed that some of them have an anti-microbial efficacy, but there are no extensive data available on the effect of chewing fennel seeds on the pH of saliva.

Zosteriform Cutaneous Metastases with Primary Endometrial Carcinoma.

Cutaneous metastases from endometrial adenocarcinoma are ominous and are seldom seen, though metastases occurring at the local sites, such as pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, vagina, peritoneum, and lungs are well recognized. The zosteriform pattern of lesions is even more rare. Here, we describe an interesting case of a 60-year-old female with carcinoma endometrium, presenting with zosteriform cutaneous metastasis.

Daucosterol (DS) is a plant phytosterol which is shown to induce oxidative stress mediated apoptosis in various cancer cell lines. However, the molecular mechanism underlying its cellular action has not been documented against Non- Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). Therefore, we attempted to decipher the mechanisms responsible for DS-induced anti-proliferation on human NSCLC cells.

Elucidation of tumor-promoting potential of a combination pesticide by short-term, in vivo bioassay.

The use of combination pesticide (profenofos 40% + cypermethrin 4% EC) is on the rise in India and elsewhere. Cypermethrin is reported to be a tumor promoter, but its tumor-promoting potential along with profenofos is yet to be studied. A short-term, in vivo test for detection of a tumor promoter is cost-effective, saves time, and requires fewer animals than conventional methods.
