Minimally invasive spleen-preserving surgery to treat primary splenic hydatidosis: short and long-term outcomes: a cohort study.

Background: Primary splenic hydatidosis, a rare manifestation of Echinococcus granulosus infection, presents unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This study compares spleen-preserving surgeries with total splenectomy for treating primary splenic hydatid cysts, focusing on short- and long-term outcomes in the Jordanian context, a region particularly affected by this condition.

Methods: This retrospective analysis was conducted on 18 patients diagnosed with primary splenic hydatid cysts at two Jordanian hospitals from January 2015 to June 2021.

Conservative Treatment of Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

Although nonsurgical management of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) is still used among a significant number of patients, survival after conservative treatment is extremely rare. We report a case of an 86-year-old female who presented with an rAAA that was confirmed clinically and radiologically via computed tomography angiography. Although the patient was not deemed a candidate for surgery owing to significant comorbidities and poor baseline function, she survived the episode with no surgical intervention.

Background: We evaluated community health volunteer (CHV) strategies to prevent non-communicable disease (NCD) care disruption and promote coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) detection among Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians, as the pandemic started.

Methods: Alongside medication delivery, CHVs called patients monthly to assess stockouts and adherence, provide self-management and psychosocial support, and screen and refer for complications and COVID-19 testing. Cohort analysis was undertaken of stockouts, adherence, complications and suspected COVID-19.

Background: Intraoperative awareness is the second most common complication of surgeries, and it negatively affects patients and healthcare professionals. Based on the limited previous studies, there is a wide variation in the incidence of intraoperative awareness and in the practices and attitudes toward depth of anesthesia (DoA) monitoring among healthcare systems and anesthesiologists. Unintended Foley's catheter placement into the ureter: A case report.

Introduction: Foleys catheter insertion is among the most common urological procedures performed by urologists.

Case Presentation: Here we present a case diagnosed with neurogenic bladder before 3 years and she was on long-term indwelling Foleys catheter since that due to urge incontinence and changes her catheter regularly every 10 to12 weeks, where the tip of the catheter was found in the right vesico-ureteric junction with hydronephrosis of the right kidney.

Discussion: The two most commonly encountered complications of Foley catheter placement are urethral injury and retention of the Foley balloon in the urethra.

Continuous Saline Bladder Irrigation in Reducing Recurrence and Progression When Compared to Immediate Mitomycin- C Instillation Post- Resection of Bladder Tumor: A Short Communication.

Introduction: Intravesical chemotherapy instillation by mitomycin - C (MMC) immediately after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT), although effective in reducing the incidence of non- muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) recurrence, can result in non desirable effects like bladder irritation and hematuria . Continuous bladder irrigation with saline post resection has been studied as an alternative. In our study we  compare the rates of  NMIBC recurrence and progression in patients who were treated with either MMC or CSBI immediately after tumor resection.

The effect of stone and patient characteristics in predicting extra-corporal shock wave lithotripsy success rate: A cross sectional study.

Introduction: We determine the effect of patient characteristics (age, sex, and body mass index BMI) and stone characteristics (density, location, and size) by non-contrast computed tomography of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder (CT-KUB) in predicting the success of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in the treatment of kidney and ureteric stones. We present this study to further enrich the knowledge of physicians towards the effect of different patient characteristics upon predicting extra-corporal shock wave lithotripsy success rates.

Methods: We evaluated 155 patients who received ESWL for renal and ureteric stone measuring 3-20 mm (mm), over a 3-month period.
