Background: Hospital nutrition is a major public health problem, as up to 50% of hospitalized patients suffer from undernutrition. Adequate nutritional support (NS) decreases morbidity/mortality, shortens the length of stay, and reduces costs. We aimed to evaluate the engagement of Portuguese gastroenterology departments in NS, especially in artificial nutrition (AN).

Introduction: hepatic osteodystrophy, including osteoporosis, is an abnormal bone metabolism related with chronic liver diseases. Osteoporosis is associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, with a significant impact on morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. Nevertheless, bone disorders tend to be undervalued in cirrhosis due to alcohol-related liver disease (ALD cirrhosis).

Current diagnosing criteria are complex and heterogeneous, making this a largely underdiagnosed entity. Also, although recommended, genetic testing is not necessary for the diagnosis and its real advantages are not clear.

Diagnosis is based on clinical presentation combined with an increase infiltration of eosinophils in the gastrointestinal tract, in the absence of other secondary causes of eosinophilic infiltration.
Case Presentation: We report a case of a 22-year-old male with eosinophilic enterocolitis presenting with malabsorption syndrome (diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss), bowel wall thickening, and ascites.
Background & Aims: Unsedated colonoscopy can be painful, poorly tolerated by patients, and associated with unsatisfactory technical performance. Previous studies report an advantage of water exchange over conventional air insufflation in reducing pain during unsedated colonoscopy. Our goal was to analyze the impact of water exchange colonoscopy on the level of maximum pain reported by patients submitted to unsedated colonoscopy, compared to conventional air insufflation.
