Objective: Neuropathic pain has been considered as one of the most serious chronic pain subtypes and causes intolerable suffering to patients physically and mentally. This study aimed to verify the analgesic effect of intravenous administration of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUC-MSCs) upon rats with chronic constriction injury (CCI)-induced neuropathic pain and the concomitant mechanism via modulating microglia.
Methods: 30 male SD rats were randomized divided into three groups (n = 10 per group): Sham + Saline group (S&S group), CCI + Saline group (C&S group) and CCI + HUC-MSCs group (C&U group).
Introduction: The programmed cell death (PCD) pathway plays an important role in restricting cancer cell survival and proliferation. However, limited studies have investigated the association between genetic variants in the 3'-untranslated region of the PCD pathway genes and breast cancer outcomes.
Methods: In this study, we genotyped 28 potentially functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 23 PCD pathway genes in 1,177 patients with early-stage breast cancer (EBC) from a Han Chinese population.
Immune checkpoint inhibitor pneumonitis (ICIP) is thought to be a self-limiting disease; however, an effective treatment option does not currently exist. This study aimed to determine the clinical efficacy of combination therapy with glucocorticoids and pirfenidone for ICIP related to programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 45 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who developed ICIP following PD-1 inhibitor and albumin-bound paclitaxel or carboplatin treatment at our hospital.

Methods: We analyzed the data of E.
Objectives: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is a serious threat to public health due to its limited treatment options and high mortality rate. This study aims to identify the risk factors of carbapenem resistance in patients with K. pneumoniae isolates and develop CRKP prediction models using logistic regression (LR) and artificial neural network (ANN) methods.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the cross-sectional area of the sciatic nerve of different genders and body weights and to explore the effectiveness and reliability of an ultrasound-guided block around the sciatic nerve in living rats.
Methods: Using ultrasound imaging anatomy of the sciatic nerve of rats, the cross-sectional area of the sciatic nerve in rats of different genders from 6 to 10 weeks old was calculated, and then analyzed its correlation with body weight.
Background: Compelling evidence has indicated a significant association between leukocyte mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn) and prognosis of several malignancies in a cancer-specific manner. However, whether leukocyte mtDNAcn can predict the clinical outcome of breast cancer (BC) patients has not been well investigated.
Methods: The mtDNA copy number of peripheral blood leukocytes from 661 BC patients was measured using a Multiplex AccuCopy™Kit based on a multiplex fluorescence competitive PCR principle.
Background: Bilateral breast cancer (BBC), as well as ovarian cancer, are significantly associated with germline deleterious variants in BRCA1/2, while BRCA1/2 germline deleterious variants carriers can exquisitely benefit from poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. However, formal genetic testing could not be carried out for all patients due to extensive use of healthcare resources, which in turn results in high medical costs. To date, existing BRCA1/2 deleterious variants prediction models have been developed in women of European or other descent who are quite genetically different from Asian population.

With limited effective protective drugs against RILI, the main strategy to reduce the injury is strict adherence to dose-volume restrictions of normal lungs. RILI can manifest as acute radiation pneumonitis with cellular injury, cytokine release and cytokine recruitment to inflammatory infiltrate, and subsequent chronic radiation pulmonary fibrosis.

However, they are associated with an increased risk of thrombosis. To improve patient care, it is critical to timely identify patients at risk of developing peripherally inserted central catheter-related thrombosis.

However, it remains unclear whether delayed initiation of adjuvant hormone therapy (AHT) is associated with survival.
Objective: To assess the association of time to adjuvant hormone therapy (TTH) with breast cancer survival and evaluate the factors associated with AHT.
To compare the clinical practicability of two bleeding grading systems (BGS) in pregnancy with Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP). The clinical data of 154 cases were retrospectively analyzed with the 2016 version of the ITP Bleeding Scale (ITP-2016) and the ITP-specific bleeding assessment tool (ITP-BAT). The correlation between the two BGS and the relations among the platelet counts, gestational ages, and disease stages were respectively analyzed.

Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab-containing dual anti-HER2 therapy compared to trastuzumab alone.
Methods: A systematic search was performed to identify eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
. is associated with gastrointestinal disease, most notably gastric cancer. Cytotoxin-associated antigen A (CagA), an important virulence factor for pathogenicity, induces host cells to release inflammatory factors, especially interleukin-8 (IL-8).

In this study, we analyzed the effect of genome-wide association studies-identified breast cancer-risk single nucleotide polymorphisms on survival of early-stage breast cancer patients in a Chinese population.
Methods: This retrospective study investigated the relationship between 21 GWAS-identified breast cancer-risk single nucleotide polymorphisms and the outcome of 1177 early stage breast cancer patients with a long median follow-up time of 174 months.
β-elemene (β-ELE) is a natural compound extracted from that has shown promise as a novel anticancer drug to treat malignant tumors. Recent studies have demonstrated that β-ELE can reverse the drug resistance of tumor cells. To the best of our knowledge, there are no reports concerning the reversal of erlotinib resistance by β-ELE in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells.

Despite extensive efforts, the relationship between CagA and gastric cancer is far from completely understood. Here, the GAL4 yeast two-hybrid system was used to screen cellular proteins for binding to CagA, and five cellular proteins, including tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein, epsilon (YWHAE), were identified.

The present study aimed at investigating the clinical manifestation, imaging characteristics, pathology, tumor markers, treatment and prognosis of primary LELC of the lung. A total of 14 patients with pulmonary LELC were confirmed by surgery and pathology.

Objective: To determine the efficacy and safety of a diuretic agent, frusemide, combined with doxazosin in the treatment of nocturia in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia / lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH/LUTS).
Methods: Sixty-four BPH/LUTS patients with nocturia were equally randomized into two groups, one treated with doxazosin (4 mg/d), and the other with frusemide (40 mg/d) and doxazosin (4 mg/d), given 6 h before sleep, both for 4 weeks. Urine volume, IPSS, QOL, serum electrolytes, plasma osmolality were recorded and compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.
