Background And Purpose: There is no consensus on the optimal antithrombotic medication for patients with acute ischemic stroke with anterior circulation tandem occlusions treated with emergent carotid stent placement and mechanical thrombectomy. The identification of factors influencing hemorrhagic risks can assist in creating appropriate therapeutic algorithms for such patients. This study aimed to investigate the impact of medical therapy on functional and safety outcomes in patients treated with carotid stent placement and mechanical thrombectomy for tandem occlusions.

Assessment of gait direction changes during straight-ahead walking in healthy elderly and Huntington disease patients using a shank worn MIMU.

The aim of this study was to propose and comparatively evaluate four methods for assessing stride-by-stride changes of direction of progression, during straight walking using measurements of a magnetic and inertial unit placed above the malleolus. The four methods were evaluated by comparing their estimate of the gait changes of direction of progression with that obtained from an instrumented gait mat used as a gold standard. The methods were applied to the data obtained from the gait of both healthy subjects and patients with Huntington Disease, the latter characterized by a jerky swing phase.

Prescriptions of NSAIDs to patients undergoing third molar surgery : an observational, prospective, multicentre survey.

Background And Objectives: Surgical extraction of an impacted third molar is generally followed by acute post-operative pain that has been shown to be primarily inflammatory. Thus, use of NSAIDs in this context is appropriate and has been shown to be effective. Several drugs are employed for this purpose, but no information exists on the reasons why preference is given to one rather than another.

Postural control in order to prevent chronic locomotor injuries in top level athletes.

Chronic injuries of the locomotor apparatus represent the main cause of drop-out among top level gymnasts. The aim of the present paper was to verify whether the postural control, investigated by using an integrated approach and accordingly optimized, could be an effective tool for the secondary prevention of training-related disorders of the locomotor apparatus, in a cohort of 20 young female athletes practicing rythmic gymnastic at top level. After a preliminary medical consultation all the subjects underwent a static and dynamic baropodometric test, an ophtalmological and a dental screening.
