: Smoking and hypertension are major contributors to cardiovascular diseases, with smoker hypertensives typically presenting with exacerbated health risks. These factors are associated with COVID-19 aggravation, but their cumulative impact in the context of this disease remains understudied. Our hypothesis was that hypertensive smokers display a more vulnerable health profile (versus non-smokers) upon hospital admission for COVID-19.

ILD's prevalence, clinical patterns, imaging, and natural history are variable. Each of the representative diseases-systemic sclerosis (SSc), idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Sjӧgren's syndrome (SjS), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)-have distinct clinical, paraclinical and evolutionary features.

This study enrolled 53 patients with bacteriologically confirmed pulmonary tuberculosis at Victor Babes University Hospital in Craiova between January 2023 and August 2024. Participants were stratified into two groups based on their serum vitamin C levels: 26 patients with normal levels and 27 patients with low levels.

This is compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has severely impacted healthcare services, including TB management. Both TB and COVID-19, diseases with considerable morbidity and mortality, have shown potential links to electrolyte imbalances.

It is much more common among men (40%) and among patients with metabolic comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes and dyslipidemia. Being an asymptomatic disease, the diagnosis is often established on the basis of imaging methods, with an important role given to abdominal ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

We performed a retrospective study to assess the main endoscopic findings of malignant lung tumors in the large airways in a cohort of Romanian patients. The group consisted of 32 (84.

Theoretically, exposure to a contaminated biological specimen may have as a consequence transmission of infection from patient to dentist, from dentist to patient and from patient to patient via inadequately decontaminated and sterilized dental equipment.

Treg cells were quantified and phenotypically characterized by flow cytometry while the expression level of Foxp3 mRNA was evaluated by real time PCR. A reduced percentage of peripheral blood Treg cells was found in patients than in controls, irrespective of the type of connective tissue disease.

To evaluate the safety of an anticontaminant disposable device which protects the jet injector apparatus, 22,714 healthy subjects were intradermally inoculated (38,162 inoculations) with a variety of vaccines. All the subjects were systematically followed-up clinically and epidemiologically for 6-18 months after inoculation; blood samples from 1619 subjects, before and 60-75 days after inoculation, were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for HBV, hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV.

The results of the study showed a higher contamination by virus B than virus C. The distribution of contamination depending upon the position held by the staff members revealed a higher contamination incidence among medium level personnel than among high level personnel.

Possible appearance of ELISA false-positive results for hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after vaccination against influenza was studied on 402 volunteers before, and 30 and 90 days after that. Our results prove that influenza vaccine can sometimes induce false-positive ELISA for HCV, but not for HIV. Their frequency is relatively small--0.
