Between 1976 and 1982, 59 patients with locally advanced breast cancer were treated with preoperative supervoltage radiotherapy, adjuvant preoperative and postoperative hormonochemotherapy, and modified radical mastectomy. Systemic treatment, which was started simultaneously with radiotherapy, consisted of a combination of daily oral tamoxifen and a monthly alternation of Doxorubicin + vincristine and cyclophosphamide + methotrexate + 5-fluorouracil (CMF). One of each cycle was given preoperatively at half dosage and five of each were repeated postoperatively at full dosage.

Sucralfate is an effective medication for treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers, and 99mTc-labeled sucralfate has been found to adhere to ulcers. In this study, we examined the reliability of confirming the diagnosis of gastroduodenal ulcers--previously detected by endoscopy and histology--by means of sucralfate labeled with 99mTc, imaging 1 and 2 hr after oral administration. Eighteen out of 23 patients were positive by scintigraphy with this method (sensitivity = 78%).

Of 790 patients, 772 with proven cancerous disease have been studied without any selection using either MDP (three different kits), HDP (two types) or DPD. The groups were identical in age distribution, male/female ratio, body weight and verified percentage metastatic involvement. Technical conditions (Mo/Tc-generator used, dilution volume, total activity of the final product per vial, preparation/injection and injection/examination delays) were identical.

In their study of a case of lethal midline-granuloma, the authors describe the relations between this affection, Wegener's granulomatosis and lymphoma. The case under review illustrates the difficulty in accurately defining the nosologic picture of the disease. Anatomo-pathological examinations present two possibilities: one being malignant granuloma of the Stewart type, the other that of lymphoma.

The variations of the plasma 59Fe T 1/2 were observed in 20 patients treated by high-energy irradiation. They were submitted to a focalized radiotherapy involving a non-negligible volume of erythropoietic marrow. Among them there were 10 cases of pulmonary cancer, 7 cases of lymphomas, and 3 cases of seminomas.
