Identifying magnetic phases in chemically ordered and disordered FeAl thin films.

Direct magnetic writing of ferromagnetic nanoscale elements provides an alternative pathway for potential application in data storage or spintronic devices. Magnetic patterning due to local chemical disordering of FeAl thin films results in adjacent nanoscale regions that possess two different phases, a low-magnetization and high-coercive chemically ordered phase (non-irradiated ferromagnetic area, NIFM) and a high-magnetization and low-coercive chemically disordered phase (irradiated ferromagnetic area, IMF). Depending on the volume of NIFM and IFM phases, different interaction mechanisms were revealed.

The relationship between epigenetic age and the hallmarks of aging in human cells.

Epigenetic clocks are mathematically derived age estimators that are based on combinations of methylation values that change with age at specific CpGs in the genome. These clocks are widely used to measure the age of tissues and cells. The discrepancy between epigenetic age (EpiAge), as estimated by these clocks, and chronological age is referred to as EpiAge acceleration.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis with features of flagellate purpura: a comparison with flagellate erythema.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis is a histopathologic term describing a type of small-vessel vasculitis characterized by a predominantly neutrophilic inflammatory infiltrate and nuclear debris. Skin involvement is common and can have a heterogeneous clinical presentation. Herein, we describe a 76-year-old woman with no history of chemotherapy or recent mushroom ingestion that presented with focal areas of flagellate purpura secondary to bacteremia.

Multinational prospective cohort study over 18 years of the risk factors for ventilator-associated pneumonia in 9 Asian countries: INICC findings.

Background: Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) rates in Asia are several times above those of US. The objective of this study is to identify VAP risk factors.

Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study, between March 27, 2004 and November 2, 2022, in 279 ICUs of 95 hospitals in 44 cities in 9 Asian countries (China, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam).

Resonance behavior of embedded and freestanding microscale ferromagnets.

The ferromagnetic resonance of a disordered A2 FeAl ferromagnetic stripe, of dimensions 5 µm × 1 µm × 32 nm, has been observed in two vastly differing surroundings: in the first case, the ferromagnetic region was surrounded by ordered B2 FeAl, and in the second case it was free standing, adhering only to the oxide substrate. The embedded ferromagnet possesses a periodic magnetic domain structure, which transforms to a single domain structure in the freestanding case. The two cases differ in their dynamic response, for instance, the resonance field for the uniform (k = 0) mode at ~ 14 GHz excitation displays a shift from 209 to 194 mT, respectively for the embedded and freestanding cases, with the external magnetic field applied along the long axis.

Convalescent plasma - An insight into a novel treatment of covid-19 ICU patients.

Evolution of the magnetic hyperfine field profiles in an ion-irradiated FeAl film measured by nuclear resonant reflectivity.

Nuclear resonant reflectivity (NRR) from an FeAl film was measured using synchrotron radiation at several grazing angles near the critical angle of total external reflection. Using laterally resolved measurements after irradiation with 20 keV Ne ions of gradually varying fluence of 0-3.0 × 10 ions cm, the progressive creation of the ferromagnetic A2 phase with increasing ion fluence was confirmed.
