Tracheal duplication cysts (TDCs) are congenital malformations that are rarely diagnosed in adulthood. The authors present a case of a 43-year-old female with no known comorbidities with a two-year history of chest and upper abdominal pain. Her previous imaging on an outpatient basis was suggestive of an esophageal duplication cyst, and she was lost to follow-up until the current admission.

Idiopathic extremity arteriovenous fistulas are rare, abnormal connections between arteries and veins commonly occurring between iliac vessels. We present the case of a 42-year-old female who was referred to our center for a mitral valve replacement with a one-year history of breathlessness and a six-month history of progressive abdominal distension. Physical examination revealed a pansystolic murmur in the mitral area, basal crepitations, and a non-tender pulsatile swelling in the right iliac fossa.

Background: Medications are an essential treatment modality of mental disorders. There is limited scientific literature on medication non-adherence among patients in Severe Mental Disorders with respect to patient-related factors. The current study explores the factors associated with medication non-adherence in such patients.

Mesothelioma is a tumour arising from the mesothelial cells lining the pleura, pericardium, peritoneum, or the tunica vaginalis of testes. Primary pericardial mesothelioma is a rare tumour that can have varied manifestations and survival in patients with malignant pericardial tumours is generally dismal. The role of asbestos in pericardial mesotheliomas is less well established compared to that in pleural or peritoneal mesotheliomas.

Primary mediastinal mixed germ cell tumors (PMMGCTs) are rare, aggressive tumors that, at diagnosis, are typically metastatic. A 22-year-old male with a three-month history of cough, chest pain, and fever presented to our outpatient department. Clinical examination showed reduced left-sided air entry in the left hemithorax, with a non-palpable left testis.

Primary mediastinal synovial sarcomas constitute a rare subset of mediastinal tumors. The diagnosis is often delayed at the time of presentation impacting the five-year survival rate due to its highly aggressive natural history. We report a 22-year old female with a monophasic variant of the primary mediastinal synovial sarcoma.

The epidemiology of critical illness in India is distinct from high-income countries. However, limited data exist on resource availability, staffing patterns, case-mix and outcomes from critical illness. Critical care registries, by enabling a continual evaluation of service provision, epidemiology, resource availability and quality, can bridge these gaps in information.

Ecological niche breadth and the mechanisms facilitating its evolution are fundamental to understanding adaptation to changing environments, persistence of generalist and specialist lineages and the formation of new species. Woody substrates are structurally complex resources utilized by organisms with specialized decay machinery. Wood-decaying fungi represent ideal model systems to study evolution of niche breadth, as they vary greatly in their host range and preferred decay stage of the substrate.

: The ability to adapt to the psychosocial disruptions associated with the refugee experience may influence the course of complicated grief reactions. : We examine these relationships amongst Myanmar refugees relocated to Malaysia who participated in a six-week course of Integrative Adapt Therapy (IAT). : Participants (n = 170) included Rohingya, Chin, and Kachin refugees relocated to Malaysia.

Background: Large variations in prevalence rates of common mental disorder (CMD) amongst refugees and forcibly displaced populations have raised questions about the accuracy and value of epidemiological surveys in these cross-cultural settings. We examined the associations of sociodemographic indices, premigration traumatic events (TEs), postmigration living difficulties (PMLDs), and psychosocial disruptions based on the Adaptive Stress Index (ASI) in relation to CMD prevalence amongst the Rohingya, Chin and Kachin refugees originating from Myanmar and relocated to Malaysia.

Methods: Parallel epidemiological studies were conducted in areas where the three groups were concentrated in and around Malaysia (response rates: 80-83%).

The diverse clinicopathological spectrum of pulmonary aspergillosis is a consequence of varying levels of invasiveness of this ubiquitous fungus, which largely depends on the host immune response and pre-existing lung disease. The clinical presentation of pulmonary aspergillosis spans a wide spectrum from hypersensitivity to life threatening angio-invasive and disseminated disease. We report the case of a young immunocompetent male with no underlying lung disease, who presented with an incidentally detected 'infective mass' lesion in the lung associated with minimal respiratory symptoms.

Aims: This study aims at assessing the volume changes that occur in the targets (gross tumor volume and planning target volume [PTV]) and the organs at risk in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck during radiotherapy and assessing the dose changes that occur as a result of them.

Settings And Design: This was a prospective observational study in a tertiary care center after obtaining the appropriate scientific and ethics committee clearance.

Subjects And Methods: Forty-five patients diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, who were treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy in the time period from March 2018 to May 2019, were enrolled in the study.

Augmented escape of nanostructures to the ecosystem has necessitated the comprehensive study of their impact, especially on plants. In the current study, hematite nanoparticles were prepared by employing garlic extract and checked for their cytogenetic effect on onion roots and germination characteristics of five agricultural crops (, , , and ) in the concentration range of 20-100 mg/L. Onion roots exhibited an increased mitotic index till 60 mg/L dosage, beyond which trend decreased marginally.

A major challenge in the refugee field is to ensure that scarce mental health resources are directed to those in greatest need. Based on data from an epidemiological survey of 959 adult Rohingya refugees in Malaysia (response rate: 83%), we examine whether a brief screening instrument of functional impairment, the WHO Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS), prove useful as a proxy measure to identify refugees who typically attend community mental health services. Based on estimates of mental disorder requiring interventions from analyses of epidemiological studies conducted worldwide, we selected a WHODAS cutoff that identified the top one-fifth of refugees according to severity of functional impairment, the remainder being distributed to moderate and lower impairment groupings, respectively.

Aims: Refugees are confronted with the task of adapting to the long-term erosion of psychosocial systems and institutions that in stable societies support psychological well-being and mental health. We provide an overview of the theoretical principles and practical steps taken to develop a novel psychotherapeutic approach, Integrative Adapt Therapy (IAT), which aims to assist refugees to adapt to these changes. This paper offers the background informing ongoing trials of IAT amongst refugees from Myanmar.
