IgA Nephropathy - Beyond the Renal Cortex.

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy is the most common glomerular disease worldwide. It usually presents as a nephritic syndrome with macroscopic hematuria, oliguria, and proteinuria with or without azotemia. Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with crescents is being described in about 30% of cases and is mostly associated with nephrotic-range proteinuria, accelerated hypertension, and accelerated decline toward end-stage renal disease.
