Mitochondria, essential organelles responsible for cellular energy production, emerge as a key factor in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. This review explores advancements in mitochondrial biology studies that highlight the pivotal connection between mitochondrial dysfunctions and neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, ischemic stroke, and vascular dementia. Mitochondrial DNA mutations, impaired dynamics, and disruptions in the ETC contribute to compromised energy production and heightened oxidative stress.

Detecting this disease early is essential for improving patient outcomes and simplifying treatment. In this study, we propose a hybrid framework that combines deep learning (DL) with quantum computing to enhance the accuracy of lung cancer detection using chest radiographs (CXR) and computerized tomography (CT) images.

To date, the S. pubescens fruit's essential oil (SPO) has never been investigated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFApolipoproteins (APO proteins) are the lipoprotein family proteins that play key roles in transporting lipoproteins all over the body. There are nearly more than twenty members reported in the APO protein family, among which the A, B, C, E, and L play major roles in contributing genetic risks to several disorders. Among these genetic risks, the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), involving the variation of single nucleotide base pairs, and their contributing polymorphisms play crucial roles in the apolipoprotein family and its concordant disease heterogeneity that have predominantly recurred through the years.

The size of the synthesized silver nanoparticle, its UV absorbance, zeta potential, and polydispersity index were set as the response parameters. Silver nanoparticles obtained in the optimization process were characterized and its efficacy on colorimetric detection of mercury was evaluated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFood waste (FW) is more harmful than previously imagined. A large amount of Vietnam's FW ends up in landfills, only 20 % of which are sanitary. This causes significant environmental problems such as greenhouse gas emissions, high carbon footprint, leachate, and landfill-related conflicts.

Current chemotherapeutic may have adverse side effects and this necessity to discover the new modern therapeutic nano-drugs. In the present study, we designed the new targeted and degradable polymer of bio-active chitosan nanoparticles with proanthocyanidin (PAC-CSNPs) and evaluated its apoptotic effects against human colorectal carcinoma cells (HT-29).

TiO-ZnO heterogeneous catalytic system provides a good replacement of a homogeneous catalytic reaction due to its easier recovery. In this study, biodiesel was produced from Ulva lactuca seaweeds using TiO-ZnO nanocomposite catalysts with particle size of ~12 nm. The size controlled TiO-ZnO nanocomposite was characterized by powder XRD analysis and TEM.

A halotolerant protease was obtained from the halophile, Lysinibacillus macroides, using animal fleshing as the substrate. The protease was immobilized using ethylene diamine (EDA)/glutaraldehyde functionalized nanoporous activated carbon (EGNPAC).

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia affecting approximately 3 million Americans, and is a prognostic marker for stroke, heart failure and even death. Current techniques to discriminate normal sinus rhythm (NSR) and AF from single lead ECG suffer several limitations in terms of sensitivity and specificity using short time ECG data which distorts ECG and many are not suitable for real-time implementation. The purpose of this research was to test the feasibility of discriminating single lead ECG's with normal sinus rhythm (NSR) and AF using intrinsic mode function (IMF) complexity index.
