Pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma is a rare benign neoplasm typically seen in middle-aged women. The exact preoperative diagnosis is quite challenging considering its nonspecific clinical and radiologic features along with complex histology. Moreover, obtaining an exact histopathological diagnosis can be difficult especially with the small biopsy specimens.

Primitive Myxoid Mesenchymal Tumor of Infancy: A Lost Battle.

Primitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy (PMMTI) is a low to intermediate-grade, poorly differentiated myofibroblastic tumor and is characterized by its tendency to recur locally. It commonly occurs in the 1 year of life and is predominantly seen in the axial skeleton and rarely in the retroperitoneum. We report one such case of PMMTI, which is the second case reported in English literature.

Mucinous carcinomas are a rare type of invasive breast carcinoma characterized by large quantities of extracellular mucin on histopathological examination. These tumors can be easily missed or misdiagnosed. Due to large quantities of mucin, these tumors are presumed to be "soft" masses.

Papillary Tumor of the Pineal Gland With Discordant FDG and FAPi Uptake.

In recent years, 68Ga-FAP inhibitor has emerged as a possible substitute radiotracer to FDG for imaging of most of the tumors. Here, we report a 7-year-old girl diagnosed with recurrent papillary tumor of the pineal gland, presenting with complaints of headache and vomiting. 18F-FDG PET/CT revealed an FDG-avid enhancing lesion in the posterior part of the third ventricle.

Veronaea botryosa induced cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis in a renal transplant recipient- An intriguing report from India.

We describe a rare case of cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis by Veronaea botryosa in a renal transplant recipient from India. The patient presented with a nodule on the dorsum of right hand which resolved completely after 6 months of voriconazole therapy. The identity of the fungus was confirmed by sequencing internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA.

Advancing respiratory virus diagnostics: integrating the nasal IFN-I score for improved viral detection.

Background: This study aimed to demonstrate the utility of the nasal Type I interferon (IFN-I) response as a marker for respiratory viral infections (RVIs) and its potential to enhance diagnosis when combined with first-line PCR tests for Influenza A/B, RSV, and SARS-CoV-2.

Methods: Nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) from patients at Hospices Civils de Lyon (November 2022-April 2024) suspected of viral infections (n = 788) and from healthy controls (n = 53) were analysed. The IFN-I score was measured using the FILMARRAY® IFN-I pouch prototype, which detects four interferon-stimulated genes.

Regional variations in psoriatic arthritis: Insights from a nationwide multicenter analysis in Türkiye.

Objectives: The study aimed to investigate and compare clinical features, disease activity, and the overall disease burden among psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients across seven distinct geographic regions in Türkiye.

Patients And Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study involving 1,134 PsA patients from 25 referral centers across seven regions was conducted. Demographic and clinical characteristics, comorbidities, joint involvement, extra-articular manifestations, and disease activity measures were evaluated across regions.

A Pilot Study on BRCA1/2 and PI3K Mutations Across Subtypes of Triple Negative Breast Cancer in North Indian Population.

Identifying parameters influencing SARS-CoV-2 antibody dynamics post infection or vaccination is crucial for refining vaccination strategies. In a longitudinal analysis of 1340 samples from 375 healthcare workers, we characterized peak serological response and IgG half-life. Peak antibody titers post 2 vaccine doses were ∼ 20 times higher than natural infection; conversely, infected individuals had extended antibody half-life.

A Randomized Control Trial Comparing the Yield of Bronchoalveolar Lavage Using Three Different Techniques in Patients Undergoing Flexible Bronchoscopy (BAL-3T).

Background: Three techniques have been described for aspirating the bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, namely the wall mount suction (WMS), manual suction (MS), and manual suction with tubing (MST). However, there is no direct comparison among the 3 methods.

Methods: We randomized patients undergoing flexible bronchoscopy and BAL in a 1:1:1 ratio to one of the 3 arms.

Comparison of early characteristics of multisystemic inflammatory syndrome and Kawasaki disease in children and the course of Kawasaki disease in the pandemic.

Introduction: Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) is a newly described disease manifestation in children associated with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 infection and can be easily confused with Kawasaki disease with its clinical and laboratory findings. In this study, the clinical findings, organ involvements, similarities, and differences in laboratory and imaging of the children with MIS-C and KD at the time of admission will be revealed in detail, and the treatment methods and follow-up results will be revealed.

Material And Method: Our study was a single-center study and included pediatric patients who were treated with a diagnosis of MIS-C between March 2020 and July 2023 in the pediatric cardiology, pediatric emergency, pediatric infection, and pediatric intensive care clinics at Celal Bayar University and who were treated with a diagnosis of KD (complete/incomplete) between January 2015 and July 2023.

Comparative morphology of tumour microenvironment in claudin-low and claudin-high breast cancers.

Background: Claudin-low breast cancers (BCs) exhibit more aggressive behaviour compared to claudin-high types. Claudin-low BCs are often characterized by features such as a higher grade, enrichment of stemness characteristics, and a propensity for metastasis. Tumour microenvironment (TME) defined as the intricate network of surrounding cells, blood vessels, and extracellular matrix components influences the behaviour of cancer cells within the breast tissue.

Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis: Diagnosis in Bronchoalveolar Lavage Liquid-Based Cytology Samples.

Introduction: Pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis (PLCH) is a rare interstitial lung disease characterized by the accumulation of Langerhans cells within the lung tissue. The diagnosis of PLCH traditionally involves clinical, radiological, and lung biopsy histopathological evaluations.

Case Presentation: We present 2 cases where the diagnosis of PLCH was confirmed through the analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid cytology using immunoperoxidase technique, highlighting the significance of this minimally invasive technique in the diagnostic process.
