Background: Since its initial description the prostate biopsy technique for detection of prostate cancer (PCA) has constantly evolved. Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) has been proven to have a sensitivity exceeding 90% to detect the index lesion. This narrative review discusses the evidence around several biopsy strategies, especially in the context of patients that might be eligible for focal therapy.

The aim of our study was to focus on patients who have congestive heart failure, caused by left ventricular dysfunction or left-sided heart valve disease, and study the prognostic value of performing preoperative pulmonary function testing on their postoperative outcomes.
Methods: This is a retrospective propensity score matched study that included 366 patients with congestive heart failure who underwent cardiac surgery and had preoperative pulmonary function test.
The treatment role of Total Mesorectal Excision (TME) in proximal rectal cancers (PRC) is still debated. Partial Mesorectal Excision (PME) can reduce morbidity in PRC patients. The purpose of this study was to compare short-term clinical and long-term oncological outcomes between the two groups.

In this study, we aimed to clarify the immunological effects of hawthorn vinegar on immunity and general health. We also focused on three different production processes to improve the antioxidant activity of hawthorn vinegar (2) Methods: In the study, besides the traditional production of hawthorn vinegar (N), thermal pasteurization (P) and ultrasound (U) techniques were applied to vinegars.

RMC-7977 is a highly selective inhibitor of the active GTP-bound forms of KRAS, HRAS and NRAS, with affinity for both mutant and wild-type variants. More than 90% of cases of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are driven by activating mutations in KRAS.

This study aimed to assess the long-term oncological results of total mesorectal excision (TME) performed laparoscopically versus robotically in the setting of rectal cancer. Restrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effects of nutritional status and dietary inflammatory index on frailty and activities of daily living in the elderly.
Method: A cross-sectional study in a hospital in Turkey has been carried out with 187 over the age of 65 who presented to the geriatric outpatient clinic participants.
Background: This study aimed to compare perioperative, long-term oncological, and anorectal functional outcomes of robotic total mesorectal excision (R-TME) and laparoscopic total mesorectal excision (L-TME) sphincter-saving total mesorectal excision in female patients with rectal cancer.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of prospectively maintained database was performed. Sixty-eight cases (L-TME, n = 34; R-TME, n = 34) were performed by a single surgeon (January 2014-January 2019).
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of using UV light instead of formaldehyde in disinfection of hatching eggs on the microbial load, shell and yolk compositions, embryo development, hatching results and chick characteristics. 552 hatching eggs were divided into formaldehyde fumigation and disinfection with UV groups. After disinfection, bacteriological growth was not observed in groups.

Previous systematic reviews supported evidence for favorable functional outcomes, but oncological outcomes were inconclusive owing to limited follow-up.
Objective: To evaluate the real-world data on the mid- to long-term oncological and functional outcomes of whole-gland cryoablation and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in patients with clinically localized PCa, and to provide expert recommendations and commentary on these findings.
Boron (B) is one of the most important trace elements. Turkey has the largest B reserves in the world with 3 billion tons of B. Therefore, the toxicity of B is more important in Turkey.

We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of VI-RADS in differentiating muscle-invasive (MIBC) from non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) in a real-world setting.
Methods: Between December 2019 and February 2022 suspected primary bladder cancer patients were reviewed.
The optoelectronic properties of a fully processed red emitting AlGaInP micro-diode device is measured using standard I-V and luminescence measurements. A thin specimen is then prepared for in situ transmission electron microscopy analysis by focused ion beam milling, then the changes of electrostatic potential as a function of applied forward bias voltage are mapped by off-axis electron holography. We demonstrate that the quantum wells in the diode sit on a potential gradient until the threshold forward bias voltage for light emission is reached; at which point the quantum wells are aligned at the same potential.

The aim of our study was to determine the clinical impact and usefulness of routine use of plain chest computerised tomography to screen for aortic calcification on incidence of postoperative stroke in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients.
Methods: This is a retrospective case-control study that included four hundred and five patients who underwent primary isolated CABG and had preoperative plain chest computerised tomography as a screening for aortic calcification.

We describe a case of hybrid total thoracic aortic repair and valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement in a high-risk patient with complicated chronic type A dissection and severe prosthetic aortic stenosis. The patient underwent a three-stage-procedure including aortic arch debranching, thoracic endovascular aortic repair of the ascending aorta, aortic arch and descending thoracic aorta, and direct aortic valve-in-valve replacement using transcatheter heart valve. The details of the procedures are described with a discussion of the challenges and the decision-making process.

Methods: Demographic, clinical information (disease duration, treatment, hospitalization), and anthropometric measurements (weight, height, waist, and hip circumference) were recorded.
Background: There is conflicting evidence regarding the success of the Maze procedure to restore sinus rhythm in patients with rheumatic heart disease. Hence, the aim of our study was to describe the results of surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation in patients with rheumatic heart disease undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: This is a retrospective study that included adult patients with rheumatic heart disease who underwent surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation.
Background: In preclinical pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) models, inhibition of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) signaling using ficlatuzumab, a recombinant humanized anti-HGF antibody, and gemcitabine reduced tumor burden.
Methods: Patients with previously untreated metastatic PDAC enrolled in a phase Ib dose escalation study with 3 + 3 design of 2 dose cohorts of ficlatuzumab 10 and 20 mg/kg administered intravenously every other week with gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 and albumin-bound paclitaxel 125 mg/m2 given 3 weeks on and 1 week off. This was followed by an expansion phase at the maximally tolerated dose of the combination.
Purpose: Bone metastasis is essential in patients with prostate cancer (PCa) as it determines prognosis and survival. Hybrid PET/MRI allows simultaneous acquisition of PET and MRI data, thus combining the strength of both technologies allows the detection of bone marrow metastases that are missed by PET/CT. In this retrospective study, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of hybrid PET/MRI with Ga-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) in detecting skeletal metastases in newly diagnosed PCa patients and compared the effectiveness of stand-alone PSMA PET reviewing versus stand-alone whole-body (WB) MRI evaluation.
