A facultative anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterial strain AGMB14963 was isolated from the feces of a dairy cow. A 16S rRNA gene sequence-based phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain AGMB14963 belongs to the genus Gallibacterium, with Gallibacterium salpingitidis F150 being the closest species (95.8% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity).

This study investigated the rheological and tribological properties of cold beverages [bottled water (BW), sports drink (SD), orange juice (OJ), and whole milk (WM)] thickened with various concentrations (1%, 2%, and 3%, w/w) of xanthan gum-based food thickeners. All thickened beverages exhibited high pseudoplastic behavior, with increasing thickener concentration leading to higher viscosity and viscoelastic moduli and a lower flow behavior index. Thickened BW, SD, and WM exhibited typical Stribeck curves covering the boundary, mixed, and hydrodynamic lubrication regimes.

The effects of ultrasound (US)-assisted plasma-activated water (PAW) washing (UP) on the growth of indigenous bacteria, quality properties, and microbiome of fresh-cut (celery) were investigated. Among the tested treatments (UP, NaClO solution, US alone, and PAW alone), UP was the most effective in decontaminating fresh-cut celery and inhibiting the growth of natural bacteria in the celery during storage at 4 and 10 °C. No significant differences were observed in the firmness, color, or sensory properties between untreated and UP-treated fresh-cut celery during storage.

This study sought to explore the rheological and tribological properties of fucoidan-xanthan gum (XG) mixtures at different fucoidan concentrations. A conformational transition of XG from disordered to ordered forms was observed with an increasing fucoidan concentration, as determined by intrinsic viscosity measurements and Fourier transform infrared analysis. In 2020-2021, all countries of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region [EMR] introduced COVID-19 vaccine with inequalities in coverage across countries. As for 2023, we reviewed subsequent progress in deployment, coverage, acceptance, and integration. As of 31 December 2023, coverage in EMR reached 51% for primary series and 19 % for the first booster, higher in high income countries (77 % and 44 %, respectively) than in upper middle-income countries (49 % and 20 %), Advance Market Commitment [AMC] non-Gavi eligible countries (47 % and 15 %) and AMC Gavi eligible countries (49 % and 16 %).

Lipid rafts, which are dynamic nanodomains in the plasma membrane, play a crucial role in intermembrane processes by clustering together and growing in size within the plane of the membrane while also aligning with each other across different membranes. However, the physical origin of layer by layer alignment of lipid rafts remains to be elucidated. Here, by using fluorescence imaging and synchrotron X-ray reflectivity in a phase-separated multilayer system, we find that the alignment of raft-mimicking L domains is regulated by the distance between bilayers.

A novel Gram-negative, obligate anaerobe, non-motile, flagella-lacking, catalase- and oxidase-negative, coccobacilli-shaped bacterial strain designated AGMB02718 was isolated from swine feces. The magnitudes of consistency index and apparent viscosity of agglomerated potato starch (APS) decreased as the binder concentration was increased.
