The concept of neck dissection was introduced by Crile more than a century ago. Since then, multiple modifications have been adopted to ensure the preservation of vital structures. We designed a retrospective study to assess the long-term outcomes of eminectomy combined with discectomy and silastic interpositional graft in 44 patients who had chronic TMJ dysfunction that had not responded to traditional conservative treatment and arthrocentesis. The maximum mouth opening, pain score, Wilkes stage, and clinical dysfunction index were measured before, and two years after, operation.

Lagophthalmos secondary to facial nerve damage can lead to corneal exposure and eventually blindness. Appropriate management depends on the severity and likely duration of recovery. Upper eyelid gold implants play an important role in the medium and long term management of this condition.

Dyskeratosis congenita is characterised by abnormal pigmentation of skin, dystrophy of nails, and mucosal leukoplakia mainly on the tongue. Bone marrow failure, pulmonary complication, and premalignant leukoplakia of the tongue are serious complications of the disease.
