Aims: Waist circumference (WC) is a reliable obesity surrogate but may not distinguish between visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue. Our aim was to develop a novel sex-specific model to estimate the magnitude of visceral adipose tissue measured by computed tomography (CT-VAT).
Methods: The model was initially formulated through the integration of anthropometric measurements, laboratory data, and CT-VAT within a study group (n=185), utilizing the Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) methodology.
Human bioclimatic comfort (HBC) is an important subject of climatology in the field of physical geography. Human bioclimatic comfort (HBC) is the feeling of satisfied and comfortable within the ambient atmospheric thermal environment. Earth climate system has been exposed to changes from the beginning, but since 19 century human - induced factors have contributed to these changes.

Studies comparing the use of single or double hem-o-lok clips are limited. The aim of this study was to compare the reliability of a single hem-o-lok clips with a double hem-o-lok clips for closure of an appendiceal stump.

The SMA compression is commonly reported to be accompanied by the CA compression caused by the median arcuate ligament (MAL) while the synchronous compression of CA and SMA by other ligaments has been rarely reported.
Case Presentation: In this report, we present a 64-year-old female patient who presented with a postprandial abdominal pain and weight loss.
Purpose: Determine the affects of the developed "Pediatric Peripheral Intravenous Access (PPIVA) Pathway" on the success of the vascular access in children.
Design And Methods: A quantitative approach was used using a quasi-experimental single-group post-test design involved pediatric patients. The patients who were first attempted for peripheral vascular access were subjected to the procedure in accordance with the "PPIVA Pathway".
Objective: This study aims to examine whether cardiac surgery leads to symptom progression in the early postoperative period in patients with the peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and evaluate the difference between on-pump (OPCAB) and off-pump (ONCAB) coronary artery bypass graft surgery with regard to the symptom progression.
Methods: This retrospective study included one hundred consecutive adult patients with PAD at Fontaine stage 2b (pain-free walking distance less than 100 m) undergoing ONCAB and one hundred consecutive adult patients with PAD at Fontaine stage 2b (pain-free walking distance less than 100 m) undergoing OPCAB. Symptom progression was defined as the development of ischemic rest pain (Fontaine stage 3).
Objective: The artificial intelligence competition in healthcare was organized for the first time at the annual aviation, space, and technology festival (TEKNOFEST), Istanbul/Türkiye, in September 2021. In this article, the data set preparation and competition processes were explained in detail; the anonymized and annotated data set is also provided via official website for further research.
Materials And Methods: Data set recorded over the period covering 2019 and 2020 were centrally screened from the e-Pulse and Teleradiology System of the Republic of Türkiye, Ministry of Health using various codes and filtering criteria.
Objective: This study aims to examine whether cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) leads to symptom progression in the early postoperative period in patients with the peripheral arterial disease (PAD) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG).
Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included one hundred fifty consecutive adult patients with PAD at Fontaine stage 2b (pain-free walking distance less than 100 m) undergoing CABG. The control group comprised 150 consecutive adult patients undergoing CABG with a normal ankle-brachial index (ABI).

Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the effect of the presence of polyposis in sporadic early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) on clinicopathological and oncological outcomes.
Methods: The retrospective study included patients with sporadic colorectal cancer aged 16 to 50 years who underwent curative resection at the general surgery clinics in two healthcare centers between 2013 and 2019. Patients were divided into two groups: polyposis and nonpolyposis.
Introduction: Sepsis is an important cause of mortality and morbidity, and inflammatory response and oxidative stress play major roles underlying its pathophysiology. Here, we evaluated the effect of intraperitoneal etanercept administration on oxidative stress and inflammation indicators in the kidney and blood of experimental sepsis-induced rats.
Methods: Twenty-eight adult Sprague Dawley rats were classified into Control (Group 1), Sepsis (Group 2), Sepsis+Cefazolin (Group 3), and Sepsis+Cefazolin+Etanercept (Group 4) groups.
In this study, a novel wastewater sampling method based on biofilm collection on a multi-armed polyethylene strips (so called "Octopus") is proposed. The implementation of this method is a step forward to prevent illegal industrial discharges into sewerage systems and receiving water bodies. Prior applications of biofilm collection were performed in Bielefeld, Germany, in 1994.

Today, PCT are formed especially during combustion and some chemical conversion processes. As being persistent, low volatile chlorinated aromatics, they are continuously emitted into the environment from primary and secondary sources.

The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of ethyl pyruvate (EP) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats' kidney. Four groups (n = 8) of male Wistar albino rats were used as follows: control group rats received only sodium citrate buffer solution intraperitoneally (ip).

Although it is a known fact that soft tissue sarcomas show slow growth, there have been some cases in literature similar to our case in which there was a fast-growing tumour tissue causing breathing and swallowing difficulties due to painless pressure. For diagnosis, there is no specific clinical or radiological finding.

Clinical presentation of SMAS is characterized by the dilatation of the proximal part of the third part of the duodenum. SMAS is a rare cause of the upper gastrointestinal system (UGS) obstruction.

Twenty-eight rats were divided into four groups as control (group 1), peritonitis (group 2), peritonitis + cefazolin sodium (group 3), and peritonitis + cefazolin sodium + etanercept (group 4). Peritoneal tissue and blood samples were taken from all of the rats for histopathological and biochemical examination.

DJS may cause vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) with normal bladder contraction. The aim of this study is to comparison risk of BKN, urinary tract infections (UTI) and postoperative urologic complications with the use DJS with anti-reflux device (ARD-DJS) and standart double J stent (St-DJS).

In this study, a simplified and effective method was used to immobilize iron oxyhydroxide onto a pretreated naturally occurring rice straw (RS). The modified RS adsorbent was characterized, using scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analyzer, and surface area analyzer.

There is a need to develop simple and reliable noninvasive tests that can accurately identify patients with PE, even in small hospitals or clinics. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) for predicting occurrence of PE in patients with DVT.

To perform an ecotoxicological assessment of industrial wastewaters, different microbiotests were conducted to substitute the fish toxicity test with Lebistes reticulatus through Vibrio fischeri, Thamnocephalus platyurus, Daphnia magna, Lemna minor and Lepidium sativum representing different trophic levels in the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Also, Algaltox F(TM) with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata and Protox F(TM) with Tetrahymena thermophila tests were carried out.
