GdSiAl single crystal has been investigated by means of magnetic and magneto-transport measurements and compared withdensity functional theory (DFT) calculations. Significant non-saturating magnetoresistance reaching∼18%at 12T and2Kwas observed, alongside the presence of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations with the fundamental frequencies 22.09T and 77.

Article Synopsis
  • * Current guidelines recommend early combination therapy using four drug classes, especially ARNI, which significantly reduces morbidity and mortality in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
  • * A national consensus by Indian cardiology experts emphasizes that ARNI should be initiated early in HFrEF patients, including those hospitalized, and can also benefit patients with preserved and mildly reduced ejection fractions.

Objective: To gather a deep qualitative understanding of the perceived benefits and impacts of External-Beam RadioTherapy (EBRT) and TARGeted Intraoperative radioTherapy (TARGIT-IORT) using Intrabeam to assess how the treatments affected patient/care partner experiences during their cancer treatment and beyond.

Design And Participants: A patient-led working group was established to guide study design and to help validate findings. Patients with experience of receiving EBRT or TARGIT-IORT were purposively sampled by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality in India. CKD often coexists with heart failure (HF), diabetes, and hypertension. All these comorbidities are risk factors for renal impairment.

We explore the magnetotransport and thermoelectric (Seebeck and Nernst coefficients) properties of MnSnC, an antiperovskite magnetic Nodal line semimetal. MnSnC shows paramagnetic (PM) to concurrent antiferromagnetic (AFM)/ferromagnetic (FM) transition at∼ 286 K. The electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient indicate the importance of electron-magnon scattering in the concurrent AFM/FM regime.

  • * Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are new medications that not only help control blood sugar in T2DM but also provide significant cardiovascular benefits for HF patients.
  • * Evidence shows that SGLT2i can enhance heart function and improve outcomes in HF whether patients have diabetes or not, making them valuable for a wide range of HF patients, especially in India.

Article Synopsis
  • - In India, heart failure (HF) is a significant health issue, impacting younger individuals compared to Western countries, but many patients do not receive proper medical treatment.
  • - Selective β-1 blockers, like bisoprolol, are important in treating HF because they help lower heart rate and reverse negative heart and blood vessel changes associated with the condition.
  • - Despite the benefits of bisoprolol for various HF cases and comorbid conditions, its use in India remains suboptimal, prompting a consensus on its effectiveness and recommending it for better patient care.

The ocular analogue of a cerebral stroke is central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), a medical emergency concerning the eyes. Most patients experience substantial acute vision loss with a visual acuity of 20/400 or worse, resulting in decreased quality of life (QoL) and decreased functional ability. An impending cerebral stroke and ischemic heart disease are also more likely.

Background: We present post-vaccination nasal shedding findings from the phase IV, community-based, triple-blinded RCT conducted to assess efficacy of trivalent LAIV and inactivated influenza vaccines in rural north India.

Methods: Children aged 2-10 years received LAIV or intranasal placebo across 2015 and 2016, as per initial allocation. On days 2 and 4 post-vaccination, trained study nurses collected nasal swabs from randomly selected subset of trial participants based on operational feasibility, accounting for 10.

Introduction: Valve-in-valve (VIV) transcatheter valve replacement has emerged as a feasible and potentially safer treatment option for failed bioprosthetic surgical valves (BSVs). However, the VIV procedure carries an inherent risk of prosthesis-patient mismatch (PPM). Bioprosthetic valve fracture (BVF) and bioprosthetic valve remodeling (BVR) by either fracturing or stretching the surgical valve ring allows for a more optimal expansion of the transcatheter heart valve (THV) and beneficial effects on post-implant valve hemodynamics and perhaps long-term valve durability.

Obesity has continued to emerge as a worldwide pandemic and has been associated with a significant increase in associated comorbidities. These include well-known conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as lesser-known conditions such as obesity-related glomerulopathy (ORG). The main etiology of ORG is podocyte damage, but contributing theories include dysfunctional renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activation, hyperinsulinemia and lipid deposition.

Seasonal influenza epidemics cause significant pediatric mortality and morbidity worldwide. Live attenuated influenza vaccines (LAIVs) can be administered intranasally, induce a broad and robust immune response, demonstrate higher yields during manufacturing as compared to inactivated influenza vaccines (IIVs), and thereby represent an attractive possibility for young children in developing countries. We summarize recent pediatric studies evaluating LAIV efficacy in developing countries where a large proportion of the influenza-virus-associated respiratory disease burden occurs.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, also known as ADPKD, is the most common hereditary kidney disease, affecting different age groups. ADPKD can eventually lead to end-stage renal disease. The etiology of ADPKD is genetic, resulting in the formation of cysts containing fluids on the kidneys.

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) an important form of a thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) that can frequently lead to acute kidney injury (AKI). An important subset of aHUS is the anti-factor H associated aHUS. This variant of aHUS can occur due to deletion of the complement factor H genes, and , along with the presence of anti-factor H antibodies.

Background: The optimal perioperative management of antiplatelet therapy (APT) therapy in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery (NCS) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is unclear. We sought to identify predictors of APT cessation in a real-world cohort of patients undergoing NCS within 1 year of PCI.

Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing PCI at a tertiary center between 2011 and 2018 were prospectively enrolled.

  • The biopharmaceutical industry needs to better include patients and their families when developing new medicines to make sure they actually help people.
  • A study interviewed patient organization representatives to find out what they think about measuring the success of these patient engagement projects.
  • They found that patients feel proud and involved when working with medicine companies, and made suggestions to improve how the success of these projects is measured.

  • Patients with a genetic condition called FPDMM have a mutation in a gene called RUNX-1 that affects their blood cells.
  • Researchers studied how this mutation affects blood cell development, using lab-grown cells from both patients and healthy people.
  • They found that the mutation leads to fewer blood cells that help make platelets and identified possible treatments to help improve the condition.
