Background: Hyponatremia (serum sodium lower than 135 mmol/L) is the most frequent electrolyte alteration diagnosed in medical practice. It has deleterious clinical effects, being an independent predictor of mortality. Malnutrition encompasses pathological states caused by both nutrients excess and deficiency, being frequently documented in chronic kidney disease patients.

Introduction: Due to the measures imposed by the argentine government during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the capacity of universities and hospitals for the development of face-to-face educational activities has been restricted. Therefore, we set out to explore the perceptions of the educational impact and the experience in the virtual environment of Argentine medical students.
Methods: We carried out an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study.
Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a valuable tool for assessing oxy- and deoxyhemoglobin concentration changes (Δ[HbO] and Δ[HbR], respectively) in the human brain. To this end, photon pathlengths in tissue are needed to convert from light attenuation to Δ[HbO] and Δ[HbR]. Current techniques describe the human head as a homogeneous medium, in which case these pathlengths are easily computed.

If these are not properly treated in time, they are prone to produce long-term neurological disabilities, or even death. Low-cost, portable and easy-to-handle devices are desired for continuous monitoring of these conditions and Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) techniques represent an appropriate choice.

Case Report: We present a 22-year-old woman who developed refractory CS due to PRIS after aortic valve replacement surgery secondary to infective endocarditis.
Introduction: On March 19, 2020, a mandatory lockdown was imposed in Argentina due to the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2.
Objectives: To explore the elderlys healthcare experiences during the lockdown and the problems that may have arisen regarding accessibility to the healthcare system and emerging adaptations to medical care.
Methods: We coded the data using Atlas.
Introduction: On March 19, 2020, preventive and mandatory social isolation was decreed in Argentina in response to the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the disease it causes (COVID-19). This measure aimed to reduce the transmission of the virus and the resulting severe respira-tory condition that frequently besets older adults. However, this measure can also affect the support networks of these isolated people.

After extensive numerical simulations, varying the ratio between the length of its sides, it is shown that (i) frequency levels belonging to different symmetry classes cross each other and (ii) for levels within the same symmetry sector, only avoided crossings appear. The consequence of anticrossings is studied by calculating the distribution of the ratio of consecutive level spacings for each symmetry class.

Currently used models take into account the layered structure of the human head but, usually, they do not consider the non-planar surface of some of the boundaries, i.e.

The tunneling probability of each electron is determined by interactions that typically extend to neighboring sites, as their corresponding wave amplitudes decay rapidly away from an isolated atomic core. This kind of description is essential in condensed-matter physics, and it rules the electronic transport properties of metals, insulators and many other solid-state systems.

Prior works implemented the EKF in frequency-domain with several pairs of light sources and detectors and for static parameters estimation problems. Here we explore the use of the EKF in single distance, time-domain measurements, together with a corresponding forward model.

Holstein and cross-bred Holstein heifers (n = 1562) were synchronized using a modified 5-day CIDR-Synch protocol as follows (All AM treatments): D-8, CIDR inserted; D-3, CIDR removed and PGF2α (500 μg cloprostenol) treatment; D-2, second PGF2α; D0, GnRH (G1, 100 μg gonadorelin acetate) to induce ovulation. On D5 in the afternoon, heifers were assigned in a completely randomized design to one of two treatments: Control (untreated) or GnRH (200 μg).

Methods: Prospective, longitudinal, multicenter, observational study in patients, attended by advanced life support units, transferred to the emergency department of their reference hospital and diagnosed with ACVD.
The Bloch oscillations (BO) and the rainbow trapping (RT) are two apparently unrelated phenomena, the former arising in solid state physics and the latter in metamaterials. A Bloch oscillation, on the one hand, is a counter-intuitive effect in which electrons start to oscillate in a crystalline structure when a static electric field is applied. This effect has been observed not only in solid state physics but also in optical and acoustical structured systems since a static electric field can be mimicked by a chirped structure.

The approach is validated by both Monte Carlo simulations and experiments, showing good results in structures made up of four layers. As it is a Bayesian algorithm, prior knowledge can be included to improve the accuracy of the retrieved unknowns.

This study examined the fidelity of a weight loss intervention (Camden Weight Loss) from recorded consultations by assessing advisors' delivery of content, use of motivational interviewing approach and therapeutic alliance.
Methods: A process evaluation was conducted of advisor-participant consultations in a 12-month randomised controlled trial of an intervention for adult volunteers with a body mass index categorised as overweight or obese.
Maintenance of the corpus luteum (CL) during pregnancy is essential for continuing the elevated circulating progesterone (P4) that is required to maintain pregnancy. The mechanisms that protect the CL during early pregnancy when the non-pregnant animal would typically undergo CL regression have been extensively investigated. It is clear uterine prostaglandin F2α (PGF) causes regression of the CL in non-pregnant ruminants and that maintenance of the CL during early pregnancy is dependent upon secretion of interferon-tau (IFNT) from the elongating embryo.

This study evaluated intrauterine (IU) infusions of PGF2α and PGE1 pulses on corpus luteum (CL) function and gene expression. Cows on day 10 of estrous cycle received 4 IU infusions (every 6 h; n = 5/treatment) of saline, PGE1 (2 mg PGE1), PGF2α (0.

However, the effectiveness of monospecific therapies targeting these receptors is hampered by resistance emergence, which is frequently associated with the upregulation of other members of HER family. Combined therapies using monoclonal antibodies or tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been suggested as a promising strategy to circumvent this resistance mechanism.

To evaluate this concept, accessory CL was generated by treating Holstein lactating dairy cows (n = 718) with GnRH on Day 5 of the first follicular wave to produce an accessory CL on the ovary either contralateral or ipsilateral to the gravid horn.
