Introduction: Civilian healthcare workers (HCW) and medical facilities are directly and indirectly impacted by armed conflict. In the Russia-Ukraine war, acute trauma care needs grew, the workforce was destabilised by HCW migrating or shifting roles to meet conflict needs, and facilities faced surge events. Chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) exposure risks created unique preparedness needs.

Methods: Data from 246 consecutive MF patients were analyzed.

The progression of many solid tumors is accompanied by temporal and spatial changes in the stiffness of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Cancer cells adapt to soft and stiff ECM through mechanisms that are not fully understood. It is well known that there is significant genetic heterogeneity from cell to cell in tumors, but how ECM stiffness as a parameter might interact with that genetic variation is not known.

Dysregulation of miRNA function is linked to various diseases, making them attractive diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Examples include hsa-miR-92a-3p, hsa-miR-126-3p, hsa-miR-143-3p, hsa-miR-145-5p and hsa-miR-204-5p, which are associated with endothelial function.

Estimates of the distribution of fitness effect from experimental mutation accumulation lines are compromised by the complete linkage disequilibrium between mutations in different lines. To reduce the linkage disequilibrium, we constructed 2 sets of recombinant inbred lines from a cross of 2 Caenorhabditis elegans mutation accumulation lines.

Our study focuses on , currently known as one of the most genetically diverse nematodes within its genus and metazoan phyla. Here, we present a high-quality gapless genome assembly and annotation for , revealing a common nematode chromosome arrangement characterized by gene-dense central regions and repeat rich peripheral parts.

Type I interferon (IFN)-mediated antiviral responses protect against myocarditis, but the mechanisms are poorly understood. We previously identified A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase domain 9 (ADAM9) as an important factor in viral pathogenesis.

For many applications, these data sets are still not available today, and the reasons for this can be manifold. As a solution, the missing training data can be generated by fast simulators.

Here, we examined chemokine ligand-receptor pairs to better understand the immunopathogenesis of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE), a complex autoimmune connective tissue disorder. We used suction blister biopsies to measure cellular infiltrates with spectral flow cytometry in the interface dermatitis reaction, as well as 184 protein analytes in interstitial skin fluid using Olink targeted proteomics.

Most patients harbor a somatic KIT D816V mutation, which leads to growth factor-independent KIT activation and accumulation of MC. Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF) is a proapoptotic and inflammatory cytokine that has been implicated in the clonal selection of neoplastic cells.

To assess its qualitative and quantitative implications for patient care, we started with 3311 established CMML cases (according to WHO 2017 criteria) and included 2130 oligomonocytosis cases fulfilling the new CMML diagnostic criteria. Applying both 2022 classification systems, 356 and 241 of oligomonocytosis cases were newly classified as myelodysplastic (MD)-CMML (WHO and ICC 2022, respectively), most of which were diagnosed as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) according to the WHO 2017 classification.

Reprogramming somatic cells into pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) enables the study of systems in vitro. To increase the throughput of reprogramming, we present induction of pluripotency from pooled cells (iPPC)-an efficient, scalable, and reliable reprogramming procedure. Using our deconvolution algorithm that employs pooled sequencing of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), we accurately estimated individual donor proportions of the pooled iPSCs.

We analyzed the interplay of these factors by performing Cox regression analysis and by determining the frequency of TP53 single-hit (sh) and double-hit (dh) events and OS in MDS (n = 747) with <5% blasts, with ≥5% but <10% blasts, and ≥10% but <20% blasts and AML (n = 772). MDS with <5% blasts showed the best outcome, followed by with ≥5% but <10% blasts, and ≥10% but <20% blasts, and AML (median OS: 75, 54, 27, and 18 months, respectively).

We identified a novel transcript of the lncRNA HOXA11os specifically expressed in the distal colon that is reduced to undetectable levels in colitis. HOXA11os is localized to mitochondria under basal conditions and interacts with a core subunit of complex 1 of the electron transport chain (ETC) to maintain its activity.

One of the most abundant molecules in the mammalian CNS is N-acetylaspartate (NAA), which is catabolized into L-aspartate and acetate by the enzyme aspartoacylase (ASPA) in oligodendrocytes. The resulting acetate moiety is thought to contribute to myelin lipid synthesis.

To evaluate the impact of the new classifications on AML diagnoses and ELN-based risk classification, we analyzed 717 MDS and 734 AML non-therapy-related patients diagnosed according to the revised 4th WHO edition (WHO 2017) by whole genome and transcriptome sequencing. In both new classifications, the purely morphologically defined AML entities decreased from 13% to 5%.

CD4 T cells can recognize macrophages infected with a single bacillus in vitro. Under identical conditions, CD8 T cells inefficiently recognize infected macrophages and fail to restrict M.
