We report on a Sudanese infant who presented at the age of 4 weeks with prolonged cholestatic jaundice, abdominal ultrasound was inconclusive, HIDA scan was suggestive of extrahepatic biliary atresia and the diagnosis of idiopathic neonatal hepatitis was only reached by liver biopsy.
