Enhancing Radiographic Diagnosis: CycleGAN-Based Methods for Reducing Cast Shadow Artifacts in Wrist Radiographs.

We extend existing techniques by using generative adversarial network (GAN) models to reduce the appearance of cast shadows in radiographs across various age groups. We retrospectively collected 11,500 adult and paediatric wrist radiographs, evenly divided between those with and without casts. The test subset consisted of 750 radiographs with cast and 750 without cast.

Multi-branch CNNFormer: a novel framework for predicting prostate cancer response to hormonal therapy.

Purpose: This study aims to accurately predict the effects of hormonal therapy on prostate cancer (PC) lesions by integrating multi-modality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the clinical marker prostate-specific antigen (PSA). It addresses the limitations of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in capturing long-range spatial relations and the Vision Transformer (ViT)'s deficiency in localization information due to consecutive downsampling. The research question focuses on improving PC response prediction accuracy by combining both approaches.

Medical Physics departments primarily concentrate on clinical operations and regulatory compliance, which often restricts their ability to improve technical efficiencies. Nonetheless, developing technical capabilities is crucial as the healthcare sector increasingly depends on advanced technologies. A part-time software engineer was successfullyrecruited and integrated into the medical physics team to address operational needs and provide technical solutions.

Given the high usage rates of hormonal contraceptives, it is vital to systematically evaluate their potential impact on cancer outcomes, especially among women with a family history of gynecological cancers.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the evidence on the association between modern contraceptive use and the risk of breast and reproductive cancers (ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancer) among women of reproductive age, to inform healthcare providers, women, and program managers about cancer outcomes related to contraceptive use.

Digital health literacy in Norwegian patients with hip and knee arthroplasty: normative data from a cross-sectional study.

Background And Purpose:  As digital health services become increasingly important in osteoarthritis treatment, understanding patients' digital health literacy (eHL) is crucial, including those undergoing total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA). We primarily aimed to provide eHL norms in a representative group of Norwegian patients, and secondarily to examine the relationships between eHL and health-related quality of life (QoL).

Methods:  We invited 800 randomly selected THA/TKA patients from the Norwegian Arthroplasty Register to complete a paper-based questionnaire, which included sociodemographic variables.

Egyptian patients with cleft lip: our experience with primary rhinoplasty.

Background: Controversy exists regarding the timing of rhinoplasty for patients with cleft lip as some surgeons shy away from primary correction for fear of causing harm to the growth of the nose and the maxilla. We present our favorable experience with primary rhinoplasty with repair of unilateral cleft lip in Ain Shams University plastic surgery department, providing insights into the specific management of patients of middle eastern descent.

Methods: Prospective study of 32 patients, ages 3 months- 1 year with unilateral CL presenting to Ain Shams University hospitals between January 2019 and July 2022.

Advanced design and Engi-economical evaluation of an automatic sugarcane seed cutting machine based RGB color sensor.

There are many problems related to the use of machine learning and machine vision technology on a commercial scale for cutting sugarcane seeds. These obstacles are related to complex systems and the way the farmers operate them, the possibility of damage to the buds during the cleaning process, and the high cost of such technology. In order to address these issues, a set of RGB color sensors was used to develop an automated sugarcane seed cutting machine (ASSCM) capable of identifying the buds that had been manually marked with a unique color and then cutting them mechanically, and the sugarcane seed exit chute was provided with a sugarcane seed monitoring unit.

Background And Purpose: We aimed to evaluate polyethylene (PE) wear, cup migration, and clinical outcome over 10 years in total hip arthroplasties (THA) using different articulations.

Methods:  This is a secondary analysis of 150 patients randomized into 5 groups, using different articulations: Charnley/Charnley Ogee for steel and conventional polyethylene (CPE), or Spectron EF/Reflection with either CPE or highly cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) cups, paired with heads made of either cobalt-chromium (CoCr) or oxidized zirconium (OxZr). All cups were cemented.

Background: White matter (WM) fiber tracts in the brainstem communicate with various regions in the cerebrum, cerebellum, and spinal cord. Clinically, small lesions, malformations, or histopathological changes in the brainstem can cause severe neurological disorders. A direct and non-invasive assessment approach could bring valuable information about the intricate anatomical variations of the white matter fiber tracts and nuclei.

Burns During Pregnancy: Is the outcome still Gloomy? A follow-up case series.

Background: Despite the incidence of burns in pregnancy not being high, its occurrence leads to high morbidity and mortality for both mother and fetus.In 1997, we published a series of 27 cases of pregnant women who were managed and followed up for fetal and maternal outcomes at Ain Shams University's burn unit and Maternity Hospital during the period from October 1995 to September 1996. Now, two decades later, we report on seven cases of burns admitted to the Burn unit and the Maternity Hospital at Ain Shams University, during the period from January 2019 through June 2022.

Thus, this study aimed to develop novel chemotherapeutic agents with both anticancer and antimicrobial properties. A series of diarylurea derivatives based on pyridazinone scaffolds were designed, synthesized, and characterized as surrogates for sorafenib.

Association between systemic lupus erythematosus and autoimmune thyroid dysfunction in pediatric population: a single center experience.

Background: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients are more likely than the general population to suffer from thyroid illness. The major goal was to assess the thyroid dysfunctions due to immunological factors in Egyptian SLE children and how they are related to the course and severity of the illness.

Methods: Fifty children and adolescents with SLE are included in this cross-sectional observational study.

Background: The nucleocapsid protein (N protein) is the most abundant protein in SARS-CoV-2. Viral RNA and this protein are bound by electrostatic forces, forming cytoplasmic helical structures known as nucleocapsids.
